The BBC commentator notes Edwards’ twitch- it was very noticeable. Why wasn’t this race called back? Am I off-base here? I really think it’s a possibility Stewart could have been affected by this.

Absolutely. I didn’t see it the first time through. this would explain her horrendous R/T. She probably thought it was coming back. You can’t ever hesitate to go. Only the starters can stop it.
I just looked at the IAAF results, and Muna Lee’s reaction time was as bad as Stewart’s, and she was in lane 5 on the other side of Edwards.
