What Can We Learn from Usain Bolt's Victory

There is a post above outlining something of Glen Mill’s training. the key point is individuality in selection of work.

The women’s 100m final is coming up shortly. Will it further peak interest in Jamaica?

Which only stands to reason as I’m sure none of us could rationalize anything to the contrary.

So why don’t you look at Caribbean coaches or Americans (5/8 finalists in the men’s 100m went through the NCAA system) instead of the Russians?

where do you find this infos? could you post the link? thx

I’d say that’s a fairly big YES

Along the lines of just lucking out with talent. Now that the Jamaican girls swept the 100m, is it possible that all the talent in the world resides in Jamaica and that the US with 100 times the population doesn’t have it also- and then some??
Surely we can find something worth considering here.

Not on this forum we can’t

Maybe the US will be more receptive to new ideas considering their piss poor athletics performances at the games thus far. At least we have the 400m races coming up…

OK smartass. the whole reason we have this policy is to prevent us getting into an endless pissing match over who does what, who is exempt due to TV contracts, what country invented what… and on and on!
That’s enough of that!

Who said I haven’t Davan?

My affinity for what has been/is done overseas simply comes from it being so far advanced in so many regards.

As has been reiterated in this thread already, especially via the post I made using the gardener analogy- we know that coaching/training is only one part of the equation.

I would caution you to consider all variables that relate to 100m success/potential before you throw out the ‘then why aren’t any Russians/Eastern Europeans setting records in the 100m’

First they need to come up with a different ol trails setup.

Just a stat on the US having a higher population. The chances of a black american winning a good medal. ARE LIKE ONE TO THE TRILLIONITH POWER.

THE LOWEST ODDS OF ANY GROUP!

LETS THINK ABOUT THIS!

Indeed, and my view is that the commonality between the populations stemming from different countries is the physiological/structural traits that, repeatedly and stereotypically, yield high potential for the sprints.

I don’t mind throwing it out there, precisely because the one super talent they did have was touted as a product of a unified system and yet Borzov and his coach Petrofski were outcasts at the time because they wouldn’t participate in the relay training camps because they didn’t agree with the constant intensity demanded there.
Individuality was served in reality but the information put out about him was so inaccurate as to be risible. 75 time 60m?? Give me a break!

What the hell are you talking about?

Another thing. (not directed at anyone) You all act like this is the first time Jamaica has been good at the sprints. Where was ben johnson from. Where was donovan bailey from. I mean look at their high school teams. The are often times better than the US teams. There is obviously something going on there.

It’s true, I know.

Personal correspondence with Dr. Verkhoshansky has reinforced that even much of his work was and still is met with resistance from the classically influenced Matveyev populations.

This is a real stat. Actually the odds are higher. If you take all the worlds populations. The chances of a black American are the lowest. There has been tons of literature written about it. Type it in the search engine if you don’t believe me.

I dont waste time looking up such stats, who cares about white or black, it should be about usa vs other nations. I see where your head is another broccoli and cheese.
