warmup

i have my high school track athletes run the same warm up drills everyday, even before their race on competition day. i read somewhere (it might have been loren seagrave in speed dynamics i’m not sure though) that you should have different drills on competition day then on practice days. maybe it is an arousal issue? i just find that it takes so long to teach high school athletes drills, but i am willing to change things up. any thoughts would be appreciated.

Don’t do anything different on race day. Ideally, you want the race performance to be predictable, and if you suddenly start doing something new, you won’t know exactly how the athlete will react physically or psychologically.

Friendly piece of advice, ignore Seagrave.
