Just in case yall aint heard yet!
Its funny you post this bc i was watching a meet this morning and every time i see the women 100m I always think about fljo and how sick her WR time is. jamaica must have some of that voodoo going on, there athletes are tearing up the track
Yea know one even thinks about that out of space WR that may not be broken in our lifetime! IT is funny cause during the 80’s-mid 90’s 10.8 was common!
Florence Griffith Joyner was ahead of her time and she came basically out of the blue. I wish that she didn’t retire so quickly or died so young because she had so many more good years left in her I felt.
There was a lot of funny stuff in that era.
Funny stuff???
funny stuff
I dont get it.
I’m guessing from the clothing alone that this must be a woman!? haha
WR holder in the 800m and 47.99 400m.
The girl from kenya is closing in on that 800M record.
she is a beast, great muscle development.
Ran a semi final of the 400m at the worlds in 50.0 or so and came back 10 min later to run the 800m final and win in 1:54! I think there were 4 rounds of 400 and 3 of 800 in those days.
do you know anything about her training? I dig the athletes in that era.
You might try looking her up on Wikipedia –
Jarmila Kratochvílova.
I did, not much there.
I’m sure that it has been covered before, but why couldn’t these countries ever duplicate such performances with their male sprinters? I think it has been indicated that they were on different programs.
EYYY I THOUGHT THAT WAS A MAN!!!
Until CF clarified things. lol
Hey tamfb and others: I think you need to read the Wikipedia article again to understand the “training program.” I am trying to be as subtle as possible here. There is a reason so many gigantic performances occurred in the late '80s.
She ran 51,4x in her semi and had 23 min rest to run the 800m. Acording to her coach she was very dedicated to wark very hard and she lived only for Track and Field, 24 hours. She has never had a child or boyfriend…
