Trying to return to form!

Hello everyone,
This is Joe here, originally from Los Angeles, Ca, though I’ve been back and forth between the US and East Africa for a little over a year now. I ran track for two years in high school, though I haven’t done any sprinting for about 20 months since then.

Anyway, I’m looking to get back into shape for some competitions they have over in East Africa; so I’ve come here for a little advice (and to participate in the discussions). Hopefully I’ll learn some things that will help me with my training!

Oh, and for my stats, I did 10.8 official/10.6 unofficial for 100m back in high school, though I don’t know what I’m running now. I’m about twenty pounds lighter than I was then, weighing 155 pounds now; though I reckon my muscle strength is a lot weaker now! Anyhow, that shouldn’t be a problem, as I can find access to weights pretty easy when I’m not in Africa (the problem is using weights when I have to return!).

Alright, I guess I’ll probably leave it there for now. Looking forward to getting to know people better here, and I"ll try to report any progress I make from training for people to see.

Alright, gotta go!

Check other people’s training logs for some ideas, but don’t expect to be able to do the same volume of running when you first get back into it. You likely won’t be breaking any PRs for a while. GL

Dang!

Steady gains are better than over training leading to injury.

when you start training start a log in the training journal section. People can give you advice on your journey. You can actually get into PR shape reasonably well, maybe around 1.5 months perhaps sooner or longer i’m not sure. I get back into shape fairly easy for speed, as for others i’m not sure. If i was you i wouldnt worry about that kind of stuff just setup a nice training program, from reading around here. Then post up your plan for the season and others will help you tweak it around.
