Training to Enter the Next Level.

Our team won again 35-14. The only stats that I had this week was 4 tackles. But I also had a bunch of knockout blocks this week on special teams, somebody told me that I layed out 3 guys in one play all at once on the kickoff. Then at WR I had like 4 cut blocks. The team didn’t throw that much, but I need to have a better attitude toward football starting now. Im not enjoying it because of my attitude stinks, and everybody tells me that I am being too hard on myself.

We won 20-16. We should have won by 30pts but these stupid coaches used these goaline formations throughout the whole entire game. Our offense averaged 2yds per carry. I think that the head coach really hates me for no damn reason! Coming into this week, my wideout coaches guaranteed that I would get more playing time this week. Then during the game I am supposed to go out on the field, I heard the coach quietly tell the other coaches to take me out of the game. I hadn’t even done anything to mess up. This really sucks because I get along with the other coaches just fine but not the head coach, and I haven’t even done anything to piss him off. I can guarantee that if anybody on this website knew this coach, all of yall would think that he sucks at coaching.

Lost 21-14 against a smaller school. I don’t even know if I should play football anymore. Everybody hates football at my school now. It is NO FUN! I swear that the head coach is the STUPIDEST head coach ever, I swear. We have pretty damn good position coaches but there is no use for them if the head coach sucks. He is real conceited and thinks he is the shit, and he thinks that it is our lack of effort that is the problem. There is no way it could be lack of effort, we practice 1-2 hours more than what the state recommends! The football team that I play for has pretty damn good talent, and has had D-1 type talent that will just go down to waste. We always have more athletic ability than the other team but he just doesn’t utilize it. The only thing I can do right now is keep praying the lord to guide me to success. My problem really isn’t about losing love for football, it is about “Why the **** I play for this school?”

Hate the player, not the game.

Things have changed Finally! And they have gotten better. We won 52-6 this week! I had a great game, probably the best defensive game I have ever had. I had probably 5-6 tackles, might be more, 1 Sack, 2 fumble recoveries, and took one to the house for 38yds! That was my first defensive TD of my football career. What I enjoy the most now was that everybody tells me how fast I looked on the scoop and score. I outran 3-4 guys that had an angle on me. I finally had a chance to showcase my speed. And then right after that TD, I recovered another fumble! Then, later in the game I got the sack against a pretty mobile QB. I just cannot thank the Lord enough for giving me these great moments to look back to.

After losing 2 consecutive games by a total of 5 points, we finally won another game. We have to win 1 more game in order to go to the playoffs. Last night we won 41-0. This was our first shutout this season. My stats were 4.5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 Forced Fumble(recovered and scored by another teammate). It was great to have a game like this again. I am also leading the team in sacks with 3 which isn’t very good for the team, but I am proud of that. Football practice has been easier now since the weather is about 70 degrees now instead of 90 degrees. It is much easier to play with this type of weather.

Won big again (49-8) and this win will put us in the playoffs. Didn’t have much action but I still managed to have 3 tackles and 1 FF. I really expected to play more this week because I had a lot of reps in practice this week, I also had a great week of practice.

We just won our first playoff game in 10 years. We won 10-6! We our finally advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs. The only statistic I had last night was 1 Blocked Punt! It was so awesome because it was my first blocked kick ever in my football career. It was too bad the offense didn’t turn it into any points.

My junior year of football has come to an end. We lost 41-0. All I had was about 1-2 tackles. Here are my junior stats.

24 tackles
3 sacks(tied first in team)
1 Block
1 Pass Deflection
2 Forced Fumbles
2 Fumble Recoveries
1 TD(38yd Fumble recovery)

I guess you could say my numbers are ok for how little I got to play. The coaches have plans for me to be the full starter next year. The only thing I can do now is work hard to become an animal on the field next year. But first Im going to take some rest before I get back to training consistently.

My coaches are going to give us this week off only. Next week we will test and max out. So far I lost 3-5lbs throughout the entire season. I have no clue where my strength is at, I know for sure that it won’t be close to my pb’s because the coaches didn’t take in-season lifting all that seriously. I really need to take recovery seriously this week because I’m still banged up from football. I still have a huge bruise right on my knee and its all puffy. Then, my shin splints still haven’t gone away, even with 4 days of doing nothing!

Back to work. Ive had 7 days off so I decided to do a bw circuit.

20x bw squats(360 total)
15x pushups(270 total)
25x crunches(450 total)
Rest 30sec
18sets total over a 30min period.

Weight: 162:(
I couldn’t wait any longer to workout. I was ready to get this laziness out of me, and get back to good habits. I have lost too much weight, and really need to get back to 170lbs.

The weight should come back on fairly quickly once you resume your full weights schedule. You aren’t going to be running your ass off every day so this should definitley help.

You have a long off-season so keep your head up. I’d shoot for around 185 or more for next season. Not that far of a long shot from now IMO.

Thats my goal, 185 and to get faster, maybe in the 4.55-4.6 range while my pb is 4.67. All I know is that the coaches are going to make me do a crap load of lifting this off-season, a lot more than last year. I might not be able to do much speed work on my own this year.

Maxing out this week.

Bench- 230, PB is 245x3
Squat- 335, PB is 370x3
PC- 215, 20lb increase

I knew I wasn’t going to be as strong as I was during the summer. But I remember last year after we first tested after football, my bench and squat max both went up 30lbs in 6 weeks. That same result will come to me in 6 weeks, I promise. I was very surprised at my PC. I haven’t done it since last school year and it went up 20lbs! Tomorrow we have VJ and thursday we have 40’s and shuttles.

Agility testing.

Shuttle- 4.36, I was running only like a 4.6 back in the summer.
Vertical Jump- 30", 1" improvement.
40yd dash- 4.72, 4.69, 4.52!

Very weird testing day today. I set 3 personal bests with no prior preparation. It was probably giving my body that week of rest that helped me recover enough(reminds me of Kellyb’s story). The 40 time probably wasn’t legit. I don’t know how you can go from running 2 in the 4.7 range to a 4.5 range. What was weird was that there was other people who had the same experience. But when I ran the 4.52, I was racing a guy who ran a 4.44. The other 2 times were ran against guys in the 4.8 range.

Ive decided to post some goals to accomplish over the next 6 weeks.
(Goals)
Ht-5’9.5
Wt-165(173)
Bench-230(250)
Squat-335(355)
PC-215(230)
Vertical-30"(32")
Shuttle-4.36(sub 4.3)
40-4.52(I think I’d be lucky to maintain this time)

I still can’t believe that I ran that fast yesterday. I will make sure that it was for real, this off-season. I like the feeling that I was clocked at a 4.52, but I don’t like the fact that it wasn’t consistent.

2in increase in vj but only 20lb in sq, shit you should be able to increase the squats by 50lb.

I agree, what was I thinking? I was doing 370x3 during the summer. I was able to increase my squat max 30-50lbs each 6 weeks last year. As my mass increases, I should be able to get a lot stronger as well.

Well, there is my school’s version of speed training. Very tiring workout, there was so much lactic acid build up in me I almost threw up. I have decided to run track this year since the coaches really want me to. They plan on having me run the 4x100, 100m, or 200m. I was glad that they said that because last time I ran track for those coaches, all they made me run was the 400m. I have never ever been timed in the 100m or 200m, so I am interested in running it this year.
