Thoughts?
i dont know if i should call him bright or stupid.
kinda hard to go wrong when you get people running 20.4 in high school without much training.
Does anybody know what the plyos and weights are like at baylor? I know the weights tend to be very general, but what exercises? Squats/machines/olys/what? What about the plyos?
i spoke to hart over the phone years ago and really didnt like what he was saying but if i remember correctly, no squats just lunges stepups etc reps are pretty in 8-12rep, i think they may do some light ol dont remember.
lol what do you expect a 20.4 guy to run under Hart? 18.5?
Your going to call a guy who has had 10+ guys run sub 45s stupid? Where is the wisdom in that? Have you ever even tried implementing such a training regimen with a single athlete?
Gee, your right the guy must not know what he’s talking about! He has only dominated the 400m with his athletes for over a decade and a half. Tsk tsk…
20.19 (JW) I am guessing mort…
From his success at 400m, Clyde Hart can’t be wrong. But Wolfgang Meier can’t be wrong either, and they have, in apparence, opposite philosophy.
It has worked for some, but not all. As great as Pierre, Johnson, Wariner and perhaps Williamson have been, one might want to know why Minor, Ramsey and others didn’t go as far!
The same can be said for those coaches who use a more speed oriented program. No one has 100% success. There are many ways to succeed. Not just one way. Hart has produced 2 world champion 400 runners, If you dont like what he has to offer dont use his program. I would caution against huberis when speaking of other coaches training programs. especially one that has proven to deliver world championship performances.
I think it is all general, just for the couple of times I was there
why are you repeating the samething i said?
I know you saw medball side throws for high reps and bench press (how much weight btw?), but what other lifts/throws/jumps?
I say JW doing 185-210lbs on the bp for about 4-8 reps maybe. Check in my journal for more, I think I wrote most of his workout down this summer when I saw him.
I can’t find your journal can you please give the link?
2 important quotes come to mind, and these are worth more than anything to a coach:
The best program is the one you are currently not employing.
The best program is the one you believe in.
Many may argue against either. The point of the first is to illustrate the importance of continual changing of the program to avoid staleness and monotony. The point of the second is to demonstrate confidence. Without confidence in the program, it is worthless.
Great posts guys. Where is the journal for wariner’s workouts?
Same here! Could not find it - not even with ‘search’.
SORRY!!! Thank you!
So for a guy who trains slow to be fast, why did he have Wariner running flying sprints?
