I just started supplementing with C10 (still in the loading phase) and I’m taking 8 caps evenly spaced throughout a day…this works out to 6 grams (750mg tabs)
My maintenance phase will be 4 tabs a day (evenly spaced) which works out to 3 grams.
From what I’ve read the C10 is supposedly formulated differently than other creatines so that it will be absorbed much more effectively.
I’ve heard only good things about C10 from this board but what kind of baffles me is how with other creatine products its generally recommended to take upwards of 20 grams during loading phase and almost 10 grams during the maintenance phase. Is C10 really absorbed so well to the point that I only need 6 grams a day to get what I need ? Are these other creatine products really not being absorbed to the point where I have to intake 20-30 grams to actually absorb as much as C10 will give me by just intaking 6 grams ?
It’s hard to beleive but I figured C10 was worth a try based on all the good things I’ve heard…your thoughts ?
I’ve been using C10 in cycles since oct and found it to be very good - I’ve also found that I don’t need to take anywhere near the dosages they recommend - some of which look down right dangerous considering that just about any form of creatine seems to carry the risk of injury thru cramps / water retention etc.
I’ve found C10 to have less of these side effects - but they are still there - and some members of this board have possibly suffered as a consequence.
I’ve just completed 3 weeks max strength and varied the dose from 4 on really hard days - 2-3 on tempo days and 1 - 0 on days off - depending on how hard the session was.
I’m now having one or two weeks off and then I’ll stick to doses between 1 - 3 throughout the season, monitering how I feel , and cycling 2-3 on 1 off.
In the past Charlie recomended 2-5 mgs of creatine as sufficient, and that seems pretty sensible - in the light of my own personal experience.
I do like C10 a lot tho - I notice a big difference when I’m taking it.
As for loading - I’d say it’s expensive and risky.
130 tabs/ bottle. Each tablet contains 750 mg of creatine and 10 mg of Vitamin C. I don’t load and take 4 per day, but i’ve heard from others that 3 is sufficient.
Gloopzilla : how far were you into supplementing when you started to notice cramping ? I haven’t noticed any yet , I’m on my 4th loading day and I’ve lifted every day.
I’d like to read some more on the pro-hormones issue if anyone has a good link.
neospeed-
are you talking about Ultimate Nutrition Creapure? if so this stuff is very affordable, though ive never used it or any product from this company.
ive never heard of Pfanstiehl before though, got a link?
A number of different brands use the German ‘Creapure’ creatine, which is the purest form of creatine on the market. You can find out more about Pfanstiehl creatine by typing it into google. Many regard it to be equal to creapure in terms of quality.
Hard to be exact as it was some time back - it was prolly about 2-3 weeks in and it was only if I took C10 less than 2 hours b4 training.
Oddly enough I’ve just pulled a hamstring in a week when I’ve cycled off C10 and remembering back to when I pulled my achilles / calf - that was the same situation - a week off C10.
Now it may be conicidence - it may be I was doing too much the week after a very intense week - but it may also mean that cycling can be a bit tricky and needs to be taken into account as a variable. Most likely I was goin too fast in the cold.
I think C10 is totally a waste of money. You’d be better off with plain ol regular creatine, either Creapure or Pfanstiehl. It’s so much cheaper and very highly quality. If you wanted vit C, simply mix it with O.J. immediately workouts. I’m not the only one who thinks that. There’s someone else with much more knowledge about supplements doesn’t think highly of it.
