Sprints 6x10 yds. 4x 20 yds. (these felt really good)

Played one on one w/ a friend of mine who played at Michigan for a good 2 and a half hours. This was ultra competitive. He’s really good and is probably quicker and def stronger than me. He was unofficially the “quickest player in the big ten” a couple years ago and we are pretty close, so I guess I feel pretty good about that.

Monday 5-19

Ran on treadmill for 15 minutes at HR 120-130

Some bicep work (feeling cocky) lol

Stretched out a little and got out of there

I’m taking today and tomorrow off, at least. I felt dead legged yesterday and am not sure exactly why. I think it’s because I worked out fairly hard on Friday, the day after a heavy leg day, something I haven’t typically done, then went really hard Saturday. So I’m pretty sure that combination wiped me out, plus the fact that I did just recently enter an intens. and I am just now fully recovering between workouts and putting out more than I ever have. And I am starting to feel a little better today.

Lol. You are probably right on the money.

Is there normally a transition or deload period between accum. and intens. or does the change in training enough to avoid overreaching or burnout? I kind of just jumped from one to the other and unsure if that was right. I’m guessing it’s more of a personal preference than a set rule though.

Tuesday 5-20

Treadmill for 15 minutes or so

Some stretching and pushups throughout the day

Watched Gladiator to boost T levels.

Feeling better already. But I don’t want to jump back too fast. Tomorrow will be a tempo day. About half the normal volume, plus some shooting and ball handling. But I wll def keep it short and sweet and be ready to go Thursday.

Wednesday 5-21

Parisi

Some shooting and ball handling

Played 5 on 5 for an hour and a half or so

Felt good. Everything felt a little rusty, physically too, but I have a feeling it was a good “breaking in session.” Squatting tomorrow and already excited.

Thursday 5-22

90 minutes of hard drilling and conditioning

Quick warm-up

Felt good with this, really quick off the floor. (Although I missed one, and have the cut on my left shin to prove it.)

Squats 225x5 (did these to half squats and then for some reason just felt like "this is stupid. it’s so subjective going halfway down, enevr knowing if it’s exactly the same height, etc. Kind of an epiphany, so I just decided I will always be going ass to floor. so i did.)

185x2x5

Bench 145x5x5

Rows 5x5 (not too heavy)

Did a couple sets of high pulls, getting my form right.

Yes. During intensification many people try to go ahead and do everything that’s in them and “use it all up” if you know what I mean.

Depends on there sport i would assume, would be diff for a sprinter.

Agreed. I know I could have hit a 1rm PR today. But, I know if I keep pushing it back, it’s only going to be higher when I do it. But obviously you have to be careful about how long you hold off on “using it all up.” I’m planning on one week from today for both squat and bench.

Wedneday 5-28

Some upper body get the blood flowing stuff

Elliptical/Treadmill 20 min. between 120-130

Thursday 5-29

Parisi

Drilled hard for an hour and a half, followed by 4 suicides, each under 28 seconds with a full court walk recovery (about 25-30 seconds or so)

Later tonight, got a lot of shots up and did some ball handling, followed by playing 5 on 5 for an hour and a half. Also did some rep benching, 1 long set of hyper extensions and some beach work.

I’m feeling good. I’m planning on Pr’ing in some form on my squat on Saturday and doing the same for my bench on Tuesday. After that Tuesday, it’s easy on Wednesday, drill hard on Thursday, easy on Friday and then tryouts in NY on Saturday and Sunday. For conditioning, I’m planning on doing tempo tomorrow, 5 suicides at the end of my workout Sat., chill it on Sun., 6 suicides on Monday and 7-10 on Tuesday. Then tempo on Thursday also.
