The best sprint books

You know there are some real clowns out there … thousands of hours worth of knowledge here for FREE and there are still people looking for something else and then b*tching about it.

Damn that’s cheap!
I’d nearly pay that - and I already have a hardcopy!

That’s no way to speak about Charlie, Rupert :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m only complaining because an e-book is an impractical way of marketing your ideas to most people. I don’t think it’s an unreasonable complaint considering printed books are the norm. I’m not asking you to do something that the majority of other authors don’t already do.

Printed books are not the “norm” any more than e-books in training/diet/sport performance really. E-books are probably as popular, if not more popular, than printed.

CFTS is dirt cheap and not hard on the eyes. Why not just print it off at Kinkos for a few $$ if it is that big of a deal for you? Aren’t you reading online right now?

no he’s paying someone to read CF.com aloud to him.

It only costs a few dollars to print off 212 pages at Kinkos?

I’m reading about a page length right now(if that), which is obviously much different than reading a 200 page book on the screen.

It is not much $$. Look the ebook costs <$20–a print copy of it (if it was in existence) is going to be significantly more than that.

If you’re really worried you could buy a ream of paper yourself and print it out on your personal printer (black ink cartridges are not expensive).

You don’t need to do that though.

I’m reading about a page length right now(if that), which is obviously much different than reading a 200 page book on the screen.

You only read a page length on your computer each day? You don’t read articles and the like on the internet on a regular basis?

I personally love e-books and I think e-books are the way to go for CF. If CF decides to self-publish I offer to assist as I can organise it without any difficulty.

People do not go blind if they read e-books. I have been reading e-books since 1997 and am not wearing glasses (20/20). It all depends on the monitor you have.

The perfect solution for the above member is to click on File once an e-book is opened and then click on print. You can print, you know. 500 sheets of A4 is about $6.

Many would argue that e-books mark the future of publishing. I’d actually prefer to see less paper being used across the board. The most attractive feature that I find appealing with E-Books are their interactive potential. For those that care to argue this, wait until you see our next “book”.

PS: DMA, I wasn’t referring to Charlie.

Printed books might be the norm but real and effective information about speed is decidedly NOT the norm. You can go after it or leave it- your choice!
Someday you might have the opportunity to sit down with authors of sports materials to hear horror stories, like mine, about their books turning up all over the world, yet without royalties or a miniscule portion of them.
Tudor Bompa once told me about his original publisher of ‘Theory and Methodology of Sport’ sending him royalties for a claimed sale of 30 books!! He knew there were thousands sold but could only directly proove 150 by another professor friend. When he went after the publisher, he got the response: “Oh, it was a typo- we meant to pay you for 300”. He later learned it had been translated into several European languages and was an official text in several countries.
He finally switched to his current publishers who reported sales of 80,000 for his inventory of books in the last couple of years.

I don’t know about Kinko’s, specifically, but a friend of mine got CFTS(the E-book download) printed for under $25 at a print shop-it’s not really very much at all just depends where you go and if you choose to get the book printed on both sides of pages.

The other bonus is that the pages put in a three ring binder will lay flat unlike a typical book. It’s really quite simple, fairly inexpensive and just as easy to read as a bound book is.

If it wasn’t for Charlie’s book “Training for Speed” I wouldn’t of known about his methods, or his website. Not sure when I joined this site but has been for a while.

Also if it wasn’t for this site I wouldn’t of known about about E-Books.

I can read e-books on my computer’s and I also print them out. The quality of E-books are improving too.

Now, I do understand your concern about hard copies. But, as you mention, doesn’t it come down to choosing a reputable publisher(if someone doesn’t want to put in the time and effort to self-publish)? You listed one already that you could possibly go to.

I just think it would be wise to try to figure out how to intelligently print hard copies so you give your potential customers more options. I’m sure you understand why a lot of people can’t or won’t buy e-books, but would actually buy a hard copy.

You are the first person I know of that is interested in the material that will not buy a significantly cheaper e-book.

btw you may want to look at the growth of e-book sales recently. It isn’t a small market.

I am going to buy the CFTS e-book in a few days. I have a laser printer, so I’ll just print it off with that.

Was that so hard? Done.

it only took 3 pages

This was quite the round about…

ok, next question… is only a metropolitan legend or it’s yet possible to read old cf’s forum?
