TENS unit for patellar tendonitis?

Do you think a TENS unit would help this condition? If so where would you place it?

You would be better off using an ultrasound. However the frequencies used for laying down collegen are quite specific, i know the Compex ultra sound uses these frequencies and many companies are calibrating their machines likewise.

While ultrasound is very useful here, so is any modality that increases blood flow to bradytrophic (low blood supply) tissue.
