in the forum i read different opinion about tempo form.
someone says I must do tempo whit sprint tecnique (high knee, run on ball, and the leg who cicle)
but another one (and in the GPP) tempo seems a normal run, the girl in the GPP video seems to do a relaxed run whitout run on ball, and the leg cycle (but because she is very flexible, but no like in the Sprint).
so…to claear my mind:
I must try to run in “sprint mode” or run like a normal run?
or what…
thanks
The problem is if you emphasize sprint mechanics too much during tempo (exagerating it) you can develop bad habits when you actually sprint. My armswing was too much in tempo and it actually showed up in the sprinting itself. I fixed it during tempo and it seems to fix itself during sprinting.
Obviously, you have to adjust it a little if your not going full speed, but try and maintain good form without over doing it.
Several components of sprint technique such as arm swing and height of the swing leg are dependent upon speed. The slower you run, the less pronounced these elements will be. For example, the arms will not move as fast or through as great a range of motion when running below 75% versus 95+%. The height of the leg lift during recovery is partially dependent of ground reaction forces, which are naturally going to be lower during tempo. There is probably also going to be more heel contact too because you’re not propelling yourself off the ball of the foot as powerfully.
Just like in sprinting, during tempo, just keep the shoulders relaxed and step over and down with the recovery foot and everything else will fall into place according to your speed level.
maybe i should do some video.
when I do tempo like a sprint, I noticed that if I want to elevate knee or to elevate the recovery leg, I do it like a constrition, it don’t came naturally (sorry if the language is very bad)
should one hold shoulders down, or just relax swing? if i relax swing those that see my armswing say my shoulders bob up and down, to me it feels the most natural and my hips dont seem as stiff when doing so.
Just relax the shoulders. They will naturally roll back and forth just like the hips. In fact, if they don’t, the hips can’t roll naturally either. Trying to force the shoulders to stay down will just cause tension, which is almost as bad as keeping them hunched up. Relaaaaaax.
so…if I can resume:
run on ball! (but in GPP €dvd i noticed the girl don’t run on ball)
relaxed arm
not trying to put shoulder low
Knee height no like in the sprint
recovery leg not like in sprint
other?
yes probably I can’t see because my PC have not a good videoo quality and grass is to long. thanks.
MR Francis, why in your video don’t put Subtitles? It can be a very great help to the people who don’t know very well english (or like me, have the problem to hear the conversation).
To translate, we would need big sales numbers for each country/language and a large majority of our sales are in English speaking countries. Everything takes time and we have a long list of products that need to be made as it is!
Are you in Italy?
not only a traslation, I think a subtitle in english make easier to understand.
I think if i have a subtitle in english I can understand more, and if i don’t understand, to find the words i don’t understand in a dictionary.
