I run my tempo workouts on a soccer field. I usually run the full length of the field. Walk back to the penalty box, jog the middle of the field, then walk when I get back to the other 18. The wind has been brutal the last week. I prefer to run against the wind for a few reasons. What are your thoughts?
I have always felt that doing tempo in the direction of the wind makes it too easy, but running against the wind makes it hard to judge the intensity.
Could a solution be to alter the recovery time between runs according to the circumstances?
If I had the option I would do it with the wind since running into the wind may alter running mechanics as will your ability to stay relaxed.
Sure. Change of direction is just one more variable, along with surface (quality of grass etc). Most tempo workouts woud have you running in both directions within the same workout anyway.
I would have done it with the wind for the same reason as Quik mentioned. With the wind would seem mostly only suitable for power excercises.
Captian that is the hottest avatar of Sharapova…
I totally agree.
hehe, thanks
