Taking all Bets .....100m Fave's For Athens

The U.S. trials will be tough, who knows who will qualify. My choice is:

  1. Kim Collins
  2. Shaun Crawford
  3. Mo Greene

Kim Collins is from St Kitts, not the US

Charlie is always ON…

Thanks Charlie, I know he is from St. Kitts, I meant Kim Collins is my pick for Olympic gold.

i posted this question a few days ago but it disappeared:

what about tim montgomery? havent heard from him all year, marion jones is training, one must assume he is training with her.

and jon drummond? he was nowhere last year, then got into world champs and looked pretty damn good…if mo is training hard with hsi, u gotta assume he is too…

any news on them?

Are you living somewhere behind god’s back  ?, Jon is no longer in the hsi camp and Tim has change coaches again and has a lot of legal problems to worry about.

I wonder if drummond will make the relay team this year? Hopfully I kinda let him on leadoff
jon to gatlin to ? to mo I dunno who they’d run third?

I’d run crawford 3rd, he’s shown his 100 speed and with him running mostly 200’s the last couple of years I think it would be a good choice to put crawford 3rd.

Yeah that would be a good call he has a killer curve. I’d like that team.

Is this a sign?

An anagram of Maurice Greene is…

“I run me a greece”.

Isn’t that where he ran his 9.79?

behind gods back? wtf is that supposed to mean?!!?!? hahaha

i didnt know jon had left hsi, wonder if that was over last year’s fiasco. didnt know tim had left dan pfaff, what was the reason behind that? especially with marion still training with dan…

So, what are everyone’s final picks for Athens?

  1. Greene
  2. Powell
  3. Crawford
    ?

I think Powell needs another year to pull it off. No doubt from next year onward he will be a totally dominant force.

I think the medals will go to 3 of these 6 men:

Maurice Greene, Asafa Powell, Shawn Crawford, Justin Gatlin, Francis Obikwelu, Abdul Aziz-Zakari.

I think if we get fast conditions we may see some blazing fast times (in perfect conditions I think Mo or Asafa could get the WR).

Predicition (Assuming good conditions)

  1. Asafa Powell… 9.85
  2. Maurice Greene… 9.87
  3. Shawn Crawford… 9.91
    4)Aziz-Zakari…9.96
  4. Justin Gatlin… 10.01
  5. Francis Obikwelu… 10.07

Mo Green-9.77!!

NO WR for this Olympics
MO 9.82s
Powell 9.91s

so, after the final taper, Mo can gain 0"10?

When Mo did his world record in Athens (16/6/99) he ran with a wind of 0.1 m/s and his reaction time was 0"17
He could ran with a proper reaction and a wind 9"66!!!
In Edmonton (5/8/01) he ran for only 36 steps (he missed the last 9 steps or 22 - 23 m) and did 9"82 (headwind of 0.2)
Probably his 60 m split was 6"33- 6"35 and he covered 50-60 m in 0"83 (as fast as Ben and Carl). He could finish in 3"40, another missed race in 9"75

But Mo is not as fast as that times

With a reaction time of 0"13 and nil wind his race of yesterday is equal to 9"91
If after the finale taper to Athen, he will gain 0"04 - 0"06, with a wind of 1.5 m/s he can run in 9"79-9"81

But his problem will be Asafa…

  1. MO GREENE

  2. SHAWN CRAWFORD

  3. ASAFA POWELL

  4. JUSTIN GATLIN

  5. KIM COLLINS

  6. DARREL BROWN

  7. FANCIS OBLIQUE (SPELLING!)

  8. AZIZ ZAKARI

although powell has been most successful recently, mo has the most experience in handling rounds. so does crawford, powell lacks the big championship experience, so it will be tough for him. collins is not showing good form but he’s ALWAYS ready whenevr it counts. darrel brown is not very fit from his injuries i guess, but he’s excellent when it comes to rounds.
about an OR or WR, i doubt, not with all the rounds and pressure, though 3 sub 9.9s is very likely.

Experience?
Lewis in 1983 vs Wells?
ben in Rome’87 vs Lewis?
Greene vs Boldon&Fredericks&Bayley in Athens?
If you want win, you can
If you don’t want win, you can win never!

Asafa is 21 years old, we don’t know if he has o don’t have “the killer instinct”
Ben had that
And so Christie ('92 e '93), Bayley and Mo

PS: the difference may be the coach… Ben had Charlie, Bayley… Pfaff and Mo has Joe Smith
But, we could have another great coach…
The only thing we can it is to wait 14 days

Vabo, you made 2 good points…
A good prediction time to Maurice and
in your last reply you said nice words about Want & Win.
I believe that God and Good Will can take you to the top,
if you wanna win a race, you will
if you wanna beat a champion, well, you will (Asafa are doing this very good)
if you wanna run a sub 10, you will
and if you really wanna a WR, well, definitely you will.
But of course, every other things must have in right place.
Good Coach, Good Train, Good Conditions, Good Oportunities…this goes and goes and goes…

But not a youngest guy,
they will be the beast at the 2008 Olympics,
when they´ll compete against me
