Taking all Bets .....100m Fave's For Athens

You are thinking of Allison Felix who ran 22.11 last yr at altitude. So far this year she has gone 22.7x at Payton Jordan Meet and 23.x just last week at Oregon. It will be very hard for her to make the team. Quite a few collegiate females have gone under 22.60 as well.

“Canada needs another track star”

My money’s on Tyler Christopher, he’s looking strong this season and is still young.

Was Allyson Felix the one that skipped college and went straight to the ‘pros’ out of high school? Also, is she related at all to USC sprinter Wes Felix? Just wondering…

Yes to both (brother)

And she is mighty fine!! (Keep in mind Im 21 yrs old;)

Very fine…

thaswhasup.

i am on the bandwagon, but i really think that it will be Mo.

Darvis Patton for a surprise victory.

An injury-free Powell…

For 2008,
Flying ( myself ).

I think if it was a single race (straight final) I think Mo would have it.

With all the heats, semis etc I am not sure how he’ll hold up. He has blasted some good races but tends to hurt himself in multi-round competitions.

Here’s hoping though

Hold up! Hold up! All this talk of Mo winning if it was a one off is CRAZY!! Come on guys! We’re talking about a ex-world record holder, THREE times WCH holder along with Olympic golds on top! This ain’t some new comer on the scene! He’s tried and tested…This guy is built for rounds! I think some of you are basing your assumptions on last year (coming back to fitness) and when he had tendinitous of the right knee (the year before). Do you honestly think that he’ll go to Athens as defending champion at less than 110%?This cat is going to be on the top of his game. John Smith and the HSI camp will make sure that he’s in tip top condition in the lead up to and during the Olympics.

Doc Patton as a suprise winner?? No chance!! Maybe medalist in the 200 but not in the 100! The depth is far too great in the 100m!

You can’t win it if you’re not there of course …

Wasn’t there a couple times this year when Mo had to pull out due to injury?

Dont get me wrong he is one of my all-time favorite sprinters and one of the best the world has ever seen BUT based on his injury problems this season and last season I hope he is completely healed.

If he isnt he’ll have problems especially if there are any sub 10 heats/semis

cheers,
Chris

Crawford looks like a front-runner for a double now, but it will be a close battle in the 100 vs. Greene and 200 vs. Kenteris (I assume he’s going to double?).

I dunno if hes gonna double or not, but he sure looked good today up in Oregon. Man, he was haulin and he really came on near the end.

OK, time to rewrite all our predictions :stuck_out_tongue:

And that was just his second outing of the year

  1. Crawford (If he can get a good start it’s his)
  2. Powell (He can fly but Crawford is looking good)
  3. Greene (I don’t think he could hold up)

I think the 8 finalists (medal contenders) will be:

3 US guys (Crawford, Greene, Capel - in that order)
2 guys from the Carribean (Powell [might destroy himself in the heats] and Collins - Brown is injured)
Emmedolu (I wonder what happened Alju???)
Obikwelu
Zakari

Gold for Crawford or Greene…
