My top 3 picks in no specific order…

1-Mo Greene
2-Justin Gatlin

They havent showed anything really.

The finalists? I’ll say:

Darrel Brown… Has run fast already this year, World’s silver medalist, silky smooth.

Maurice Greene… Possibly the best 100 meter man of all time, running good so far, he just has to stay healthy

Shawn Crawford- Very good indoor season, solid start to outdoor season, could be his year

Justin Gatlin- Possibly the future of American track?

Jason Gardener- World’s fastest during indoor season, you’d think he should be able to drop a few good 100’s

Asafa Powell- been on the rise for a few years now, looking for him to breakthrough

Deji Aliu-The most consistent performer of last season during the GL, seemed like he was always in the high 9.9’s, low 10.0’s. I bet many would be suprised to know he’s the 4th ranked sprinter in the world.

Kim Collins-Last years champion. I don’t think he’ll have quite as good of fortune this year, but he will likely make the finals.

As of right now, I could see the finals turning out like this:

  1. Mo…9.86
  2. Darrel Brown…9.88
  3. Shawn Crawford…9.91
  4. J-Gat…9.97
    5)Kim Collins…9.99
    6)Aliu…10.01
    7)Powell…10.03
    8)Gardener…10.09

The times may be a bit optimistic, but I think the order is solid.

Mickey Grimes and John Capel are good bets too.
MaybeRnard Williams

Ya good point, the US trails are going to be hot. I forgot about Bernard until after I made the post. He’s ranked number 1 in the world (!) and while I may not agree with that, I guess he has one 2 consecutive bronze medals in world championships, so if he comes out of the US Trials, he will definately be in the mix.

Agree with Alex

Greene - it would make him the greatest in history.

Collins has shown the ability to hit top form on the big occassion. I back him to medal.

i think its all about the US olympics trials as long as american sprinters are concerned. top contestants in those will be greene, bernard, crawford, gatlin. greene is most likely to qualify plus who else?

as far as other athletes are concerned i think darrel brown will be there, darren campbell (definitely not jason gardner, he only good indoors), asafa powell, kim collins, the jap dude ‘cant spell his name’.

in order i hope! 1. Greene
2. Crawford (he is very fit this year)
3. Collins
4. Brown
5. Gatlin
6. Campbell
7. asafa powell
8. deji aliu

interesting men, Let’s remember this thread for when It all Happens in August;)

My guess is…

  1. mo green
  2. Asafa powell
  3. Sean Crawford
  4. Darrell Brown
  5. mark Lewis-Francis
  6. Jason Gardener
  7. Kim Collins
  8. Deji Aliu

Mo will win. He knows Athenes quite well. World record and world chapion there before. The track is fast too. So the times will be very fast. At the end, we must all know that its a 100m. You never know what might happen. other unfortanute things like the new false start rule or injuries could turn the table

I agree…I think this false start rule with again be the cause of a few upsets…It all about who can keep their cool. Kim Collins has to be a favourite without a doubt! Check the guys form! Commonwealth Games Champion, World Outdoor Champion 2003…this guy has a tendancy to upset the apple cart…labeled the most dangerous sprinter in the World! John Capel…without a doubt another threat in the US trials! This guy possess’ speed unknown to men! Has any one noticed that he doesn’t drive!? He’s up and running from 90m! (checked on all my footage from last summers meets) You can’t dismiss my boy Bernard Williams!! The boy can run…and he makes me laugh! Crawford will be up for it too…looking very impressive so far! One name we haven’t mentioned is Darren Campbell…he’s a dark horse…he slipped in a bronze at the WCH 03 beating a lot of quality guys and with the absence of Dwain is looking to be seen as a formidible force on the circuit this year.

This year is gonna be special!! Trust me…my blank tape is ready in the player!!

at this moment in time its a lottery.give it 6more weeks and then decide.last year i made a few dollars on backing kim collins which i was stating for weeks.this year all is fairly quiet so far,get the euro circuit going then decide.also remember anything misfortune can happen, injury!!!

Depends whether Greene can handle multiple rounds…

my money is on mo
but watchout for gatlin.
I think Mo can handle rounds cause he’s run 4x100 and 1 100’s in a few meets fine

I seem to be jumping on a bandwagon here but I would say Mo will take the race barring some injury between now and then or during the race.

And what about the ladies???
Any predictions?

Im going to go with Arron from France, Marion Jones, and i cant remember her name but shes gone 11.0x this yr.
Where is Zhana? And why does Torri Edwards running like last year?

Alzheimers here… what is the name of the young US sprinter who broke Marion Jones’ high school records? Is she in the hunt this year?
It will be great to see Perdita Felicien win over Devers in the 100m hurdles! I respect Gayle very much & she is definitely scoring points for the debate over the aging athlete (in athletic circles, not real life) but Canada needs another track star.
