after reviewing a few videos and pictures of myself and and few training partners i have noticed there is distinct flexion in the supporting leg. I was wondering what the implications are for speed and how to improve this. Thank you
Large support leg flexion means your hip height will be lower and your ground contact times will be longer (read: you will be slower).
Generally speaking, to decrease support leg flexion make sure you can get into proper hip extension (i.e. flexible hip flexors) and increase the strength of the hip extensors (glutes, hamstrings). This is really common with beginner/lower level sprinters and with focus will improve over time.
