Super Training

I agree David - it is an expensive doorstop for me.

The sections on strength training etc, are so sparse hmmm

To me it’s a case of there is so much, yet so little

there are bits and pieces in there that helped, I think.

So is the c harlie francis training system book a trianing book or what ur per se…a “text book”?

More of a training book, but can be used as both. Best book on Sprinting I own and have ever read. Also great reference not only for sprinting but Recovery as well. It has a whole chapter on EMS.

Supertraining is without doubt the most comprehensive book on the theory of weight training/performance i have ever seen, it is probably the most comprehensive book on the theory of weight training in the world… It is however a textbook and doesnt have the practical information like Encyclopedia of weightlifting but that is not the point of the book.

Coolcolj If the book is a doorstop for you then you bought it for the wrong reasons…

By the way which edition do you have? If you have the 2003 version i will gladly swap you a proper doorstop for it (no seriously i will pay you for it…), i only have the 2000 edition.

Carson, Was the westside seminar video worthwhile? How much did you pay? Did you order it from elitefitnesssystems website? Did the US formatting play on normal european video players?

Where can I buy Super Training?

Thanks in advance.

Kenny Mac~~

you can get a copy on the dave tate website www.elitefts.com in the books section

I bought mine last year directly from Mel Siff. One of the “bargain” ones with minor printing defects, although I didn’t notice any blemishes. It looks like it is a 2000 edition.

Anyway has the book changed my training in any way? I can’t say that it has.

I got my copy or Supertraining back in 96 or 97. It’s not easy or enjoyable reading. I actually prefer the older edition to the newer ones.

In general the info tends to be more theorectical and philosophical, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not practical. I went to a Supertraining camp in 99 to get some of my questions answered – but it seemed most of my questions were from Verhoshansky’s part of the text so I was out of luck :frowning:

the other thing you might want to do is try to get a bunch of Verhoshansky’s articles from the old Soviet Sports Reviews and the New Studies in Athletics. They really helped me get a better understanding of his thoughts in his two books and Supertraining. I aslo had to the opportunity to have lunch with hin in 2001 in Italy – it was a great honor and very helpful.
