Stefanie's

I will start with comments:

  • I NEED TO STRENGTHEN MY CORE. It’s not as sad as it sounds, but I feel that with all these ISOS I’ve been doing, my glutes have grown too strong, unproportianally to my core strength, and I actually feel like I have more of a “lordosis”.
I just feel stronger abs is a must right now, because sometimes (after sitting too long painting for example), I have some lower back stiffness, and it always feels better after some ab work. So…

  • Last time I stretched: January 2008 :stuck_out_tongue:
I wonder if this is gonna cause issues? So far so good. Besides, isos are a form of stretching, and I am probably getting what i need from there. I don’t know.
    (not that I’ve sprinted yet…)

  • Did I tell you I kinda started my GPP this week? Tempo in the pool… isos… MB circuits and lots of running A’s.
I’ll start running/sprinting like a normal human being in September. I’ll have an MRI by then too. Right now I’m just doing things that I know for a fact won’t bother me in any way.

  • Hmm… I wonder if I should try the heptathlon… :o (I am just loving the idea).

August 4th, Monday:

Morning LIFE:

  • Half hour biking.

Afternoon POOL tempo:

  • 4 x 50m freestyle (improvement in volume? )

  • 2 x 50m backstroking

  • 6 x 50m breast stroking

  • 8 x 50m back kicking

  • 4 x 50m kick boards

  • 2 x 50m breast stroking

  • 8 x 1min deep water runs w/30" recoveries

  • 4 x 50m breast stroking

  • 8 x 1min deep water runs w/30" recoveries

  • 4 x 50m breast stroking

(or something like that !!!)

Total time: 1hr 45min
Total volume: whatever… (it’s too late to add)

Evening LIFE:

  • 10min bike ride
  • 2 hours of walking (good pace) with cousin and sister.
  • ate a long sandwitch
  • 15min final walk home

My plan was to do some abs tonight, but… tomorrow I’ll do extra.

August 5th, Tuesday

TRACK:

  • 5 laps warm up

  • 3 x 150 strides (@23"), 3’ rests (this was random… I joined a group…) Ok, I need to stop this random behavior of mine.

  • 2 x 100m running A’s (almost caught a calf cramp, got out of it just on time, phew.)

  • MB abs (didn’t count)

  • 10 laps running (this was not planned either… but my ex-coach showed up and I wanted to catch some gossip… Sad news: ex-teammate lost her baby 20 days before it was due… :(. Cypriot athlete in “trouble” in Bejing… Training buddy is running the 4x4 btw… he’s leaving the 11th. Wish him luck  ).

  • more abs

P.S. The gastrocnemius that I tore three times last fall is feeling stifffffff (for a week now, but I felt like mentioning it today)
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok, I got it out of me. I should be fine from now on. Positive thinking.

Watching Chariots of Fire, never watched it before, where have I been…
I find it boring at times, I could appreciate a little more running/training juice, and a more understandable accent … :o
I suppose the ending will be its pinnacle point of action.

Refreshing day overall… My blood feels warm. Whatever that means.

Oh wow, finally a black athlete in the movie !

steff, refer to your quote from one day ago -

"- Last time I stretched: January 2008
I wonder if this is gonna cause issues? "

also ask yourself “when was the last time i massaged myself?” eg legs

Isometrics take care of stretching. Seriously, that split lunge hold is the best calf stretching I’ve done.

Chill-out day. (August 6th, Wednesday)

Drove to a gorgeous beach with my sister, where my little 3 cousins are currently vacationing, who have little cousins of their own, who have friends of their own… and they were all there… oh boy.

After playing 6-year old water games for a bit, I managed to escape deep inside the sea (waters were too calm) with my goggles, and swam for half an hour. There are yikey brown jelly fish at this time of the year, and rather big ones in that area, good thing I had goggles on and dodged them. Ewwww. Luckily I’ve never been bitten by one.

But then all the little ones gave me a sand bucket and “asked” me to go bring them back a gelly fish so they can look at it. :frowning: They were very insistive. My sister wasn’t helping either… she wanted to look at one as well… She’s not 6. She’s 27.

I hate jelly fish.

Bucket above water and me carefully breast stroking deeper and deeper inside, I cleverly approach two guys with goggles who are happening to be “admiring” a jelly fish and playing with it with a stick. I had no intention whatsoever of trapping one on my own. Those things bite.

  • Ugggh… can I have your jelly fish please?
  • Excuse us?
  • I need your jelly fish.
  • You’re not supposed to touch it, it will bite you.
  • I’m just gonna put it in this bucket and show it to a group of kids who sent me out here to get one.
  • Ugghh ok, but they don’t know how dangerous what they asked is.

One of them lifted the damn jelly fish with his stick and put it in the bucket (I was scared he’d drop it on my arms , that thing was big, it took up half the bucket).

I swam back on shore with it, and all children were happy (and disgusted).

Jelly fish ended up in the garbage =( What a waste.

I tried raw oyster today. It was good !

some would disagree :stuck_out_tongue:

Re Heptathlon, Why not?

I’m wondering the same. Why not?
Logical people remind me of my injury background. But who cares about history.

Day’s P.S. (August 6th, Wednesday)

At night rooftop bag kicking and abs, watched the stars, saw two fall, made two wishes, thought all stars were moving, I wasn’t drunk, took a nap up there.

400m race dream last night, it felt so easyyyy… Gone are those dreams where I run and push and end up stationary (so annoying).
I was racing against a teammate who specializes in the 100 and also runs the 200 (24.x), I was striding comfortably and we crossed the finish together. Then my mom was in a basement and she was cutting up huge pieces of chocolate cake for everybody, but I didn’t have any.

On another note, I’ve been hating sitting on a chair lately… my body aches if I sit for a while, and I feel hyperactive all the time. Strange, because it’s also really hot these days.

I feel like going to the pool, but it’s also a scheduled track day. I can paint for so long… I need to find an “active” job.

August 7th, Thursday

TRACK:

  • 5 laps warm up

  • 1 x 20m running A’s

  • 5 x 10m strides

  • 3 x 80m strides (soccer coach thinks I look strong) what does he know :stuck_out_tongue:

  • 10min MB abs

  • 3 x 100m running A’s, walk 100m R

  • 10min MB abs

  • 3 x 100m running A’s, walk 100m R

ISOS:

  • 65min extreme holds

I made an MRI appointment for Monday, for my knee. I’m very positive about it.

But my left shin hurts. And I hate posting about it.

My August checklist is going well, on the other hand, although there’s still MUCH pending.

But that’s ok, because my life’s plan is pending as well… at least there is a pending concept consistent throughout all aspects.

I’m hitting the beach tomorrow. I don’t care.

August 8th, Friday

BEACH:

  • 1 hour swimming

TRACK:

  • 8 laps run on grass
  • 2 x 100m strides on grass
my shin hurts. Why am I trying to do tempo on grass? I said pool all August…

ISOS:

  • 5min wall sit
  • 10min split lunges (5’each), felt better after these, they’re wonderful.

I’m kinda pissed though.

But excited about Olympics coverage. They’ll be showing pretty much everything on TV, live. I’m bringing my paints to the living room.

August 9th, Saturday

I had a training session with Nikoluski last night. I did a 100m and a 150m. Things are looking good.
Then I woke up.
:stuck_out_tongue:

Going to the pool later on. The climate here is so HEAVY… Every morning I wake up and I feel like I’ve been in a boxing game getting my butt kicked.

August 9th, Saturday

POOL:

  • 4 x (50m freestyle + 50m breast stroke)

  • 4 x 50m back kicking

  • 4 x 50m forward kickboards

  • 10 x 50m breast stroke

  • 6 x 1min water runs, 30" rests

  • 1 x 50m breast stroke

  • 6 x 1min water runs, 30" rests

  • 1 x 50m breast stroke

Might go to the track later in the evening with sis for MB stuff

Might have a new art commission :), I got a text last night at 1am…

On another note, the main track coach around my area had suggested I switch to rowing, so I don’t get injured as much, and he thinks I will be very good at it. I’m glad I never listened ! Watching rowing olympics this morning, I find it kind of boring, non-exciting, repetitive … lame… (personal preference !)

I love watching gymnastics.

Which means?

That I’ll try it??? :o

August 10th, Sunday

ISOS

  • 65min extreme holds.

I’m fed up.

MRI tomorrow.

August 11th, Monday

Life:

Total 1hr biking to and afrom the MRI place. That test took nearly an hour… it’s never taken that long before, the lady had trouble getting what she wanted, so after 20minutes she got in the room and injected me with some medicine that allows a clearer MRI reading. I was actually so annoyed… A) I absolutely HATE being injected, B) she just decided to do so without warning or telline me what it was (she just asked about allergies etc), I wanted to hit her.
Anyway, results should be out tomorrow.

POOL:

  • 4 x 50m freestyle (a sport always feel easier after watching professionals do it on TV… it’s quite neat).

  • 7 x 50m breast stroke

  • 7 x 1min runs in water, 30" rests

  • 3 x 50m breast stroke

  • 7 x 1min runs in water, 30" rests

  • 3 x 50m breast stroke

Guy was leasurely snorkling inside the pool…I thought that was weird. Dude, just pick a sea, there’s plenty of water around, with interesting sea life to look at…

TRACK:

  • 11 lap run, after lap 5 I joined a basketball player who had the pace I wanted, and we were doing 2.15’/lap. It actually felt very nice and comfortable, despite my pulse being at 180 bpm right after (bb guy told me it should be lower cause we were supposed to be working basic endurance), but after 1min it dropped down to 150 bpm.

  • A few abs.

Annoyinggggg day overall for various reasons, thank God for training.

She injected you with contrast agent, did it make your pelvis area feel weird.

No, nothing felt weird.

Kool, normally you would feel a tingly sensation in your pelvis area and you would have the taste of a penny in your mouth. There is also a health alert concerning contrast agents.
