Stationary Start

Its a difficult thing to master and requires hours of practice, but I am becoming impatient in teaching proper standing start mechanics.

I haven’t got it down myself which may be why i’m finding it difficult, but the cues i’m teaching are what I have been taught and they’re difficult to put together.

Start with 2/3 the weight on front foot and takeoff with even power distribution.

But to achieve a good start the rear leg has to come off the ground first and get a flat, fast foward swing but how can you do this if you need to apply even power. I’m scratching my head here i’m definetly missing something.

Does anyone have any drills to make sure your pushing off even ?? All we have been using is my feet for blocks, it works but if they’re wearing studs…ouch

I recommend the GPP DVD. There is some good start footage.
