i think that it really depends on your form right now, which you said is good. my friend who jumped up about 90lbs in three weeks was because his high bar squat wasnt even good technically. me for example i can do 625 for 10 with low bar and 545 for 10 with the high bar. the wider you go and the lower the bar placement, the more of the posterior chain that will be used and not so much for the quads. the high bar is more for the quads as most bodybuilders do close stance high bar squats to build up the quads, but if you just want a huge squat, go low bar, its just as safe in my opinion though you will be using more weight!
low bar how do you mean that. Like midline of the trapezius? I place mine right on the trapeziusnear the C7 spine column basically. Lower feels like my shoulder takes on to much pressure. Never really thought about it though as i just rack it on that area and go low. Wide stance has seem to take a toll on my adductors, they got strong but got stressed out from the wide stance. I have really hard time on the squat now as i go heavier, it gets tougher no doubt but my form doesnt hold, and i always dip coming back out. I read all the stuff here on how to overcome that but its not fixing the problem. I have anterior pelvic tilt which makes it tuogh i suppose.
