Sprinting when there is no track avaliable?

I am currently training for a sport similar to Bobsled, and need to do sprint training. Unfortunetly, the area I am in right now doesn’t have any tracks avaliable. Those that are in the area are closed to the public (trust me, i’ve already tried). However, there is an open field of grass that is perfectly flat and pretty wide open and taken care of and is by our student fitness center. Is that an ok place to do sprint training if a track isn’t avaliable? I assume don’t wear spikes on the grass, and just wear tennis shoes when doing the sprint training too? Thanks for any advice. It was only be this way for another two months, then I am moving somewhere else to do my sport and have training facilites avaliable as well.
