This topic has probably been explicated before on the forum, but i was just wondering are sprint drills such as the a or b skip really necessary to the development of a sprinter and what are their benefits?
When I reduced them to almost nothing in my program for high school sprinters (except for some correctional work of awful form), my kids started running better. I can’t speak for anything else.
I personally feel that they are crucial to the development of neurological pathways i.e. muscle memory. But as stated above by the first response, which seems that maybe he used them to a far creater extent then needed. They can have a negative effect. But no in general they are a of great help in development of proper mechanics.
They are important. For much more detail on drills, check out the drills download available on the site store (part of workout series one)
