[SIZE=“6”][SIZE=“5”]EDIT: OR THEY WERE?[/SIZE][/SIZE]

The first semi looks like a final itself… interesting!

It will be interesting to see how Dix holds up in the first heat.

Wait, at the IAAF site the semis are as follows:

Heat 1
Saturday 16 August 2008 - 20:05
Lane Athlete Country SB 2008 PB
2 Derrick Atkins [BAHAMAS]
3 Samuel Francis [QATAR]
4 Marc Burns [TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO]
5 Kim Collins [SAINT KITTS AND NEVIS]
6 Walter Dix [UNITED STATES]
7 Usain Bolt [JAMAICA]
8 Tyrone Edgar [GREAT BRITAIN & N.I.]
9 Michael Frater [JAMAICA]

Heat 2
Saturday 16 August 2008 - 20:13
Lane Athlete Country SB 2008 PB
2 Martial Mbandjock [FRANCE]
3 Naoki Tsukahara [JAPAN]
4 Darvis Patton [UNITED STATES]
5 Churandy Martina [NETHERLANDS A]
6 Asafa Powell [JAMAICA]
7 Richard Thompson [
8 Francis Obikwelu [PORTUGAL]
9 Tyson Gay

Hmmm Powells in the second heat now? (Everything else is the same though?)

certainly heating up…didnt want this to be a 2 horse race…kinda feel sorry for Tyson Gay…really does look a shadow of his former self. Looks really uncomfortable from the blocks. His secret weapon is his top end which I believe on his day can match those boys.

That second listing looks like the real deal, both are going to be burners.

I feel a new olympic record in the semis, another easy jog by usain bolt coming up. But it likely will take a sub 10 second run to make the final here. Hopefully the wind is behind them for both semis and the finals of course.

What are you talking about? Gay is running as fast as he needs to, he understands that he haven’t competed in over a month and don’t want to bust one early. Watch what happens in finals, I’ll say Gay will go 9.9 next round and finals 9.7-9.8.

we’ll see man

My question is will Gay even make the final?

Enlighten me how you can tell from what you’ve seen so far? Only the semis can reveal all. Gay will have to test full throttle there.

Im sure 9.8-9.9 will get him into finals. I see you want to put money that gay wont make finals?

That’s what im thinking too considering hes out in lane 9, but he’ll pull it off with a probably 3rd place finish id assume in the semi finals.

Bolt is a machine.

A 9.8 in the semis, whats he gonna have left for the finals? And i dont see anything slower than a 9.98 (my prediction) making the finals. Bolt right now has the ability to “jog” a 9.8 (like we saw at the trials) and likely he will go for the olympic record in the semis and will come back with even more for the finals and take this in a 9.66 (again my prediction).

Low quality video, yet enough to see the ridiculous ease at which Usain is running.

2nd round:

Right now hes on schedule, ran two races and the hammy is during well. Like i said lastnite we shall see.

Sorry, pushed the wrong button when I posted!

Bolt is running with ridiculous ease, I cant wait to see what he does in the semis!

Bolt came out very hard with a good start for about 40-55m then maintain through the finish, with his overall speed he should have ran 9.9. For example with CF workouts he has a 30-50m intensity limit and very fast times are still achieve with these short intensity limits esp if the overall speed/relaxation is there.

he should continue to hold back for sure in the semis
