Semi Finals Seeds (OH YES THEY ARE IN THE SAME HEAT!)

Its pretty obvious he’s slowing down though, simply look at his arms, I dont believe if one’s arms are basically still, one can still maintain such a high top speed.

Look at the race, he had a very good start and came out hard for 40-50m+ with his overall speed 9.9 while acc hard for 40-50m isnt hard.

What about his decceleration? Asafa tends to go hard the first 60 like you have described in the bolt race, however he absolutely shuts it down and slows down so much that he doesnt go sub 10.

If you’re a fan of numbers like me:

  • 9.92 is essentially 98% of 9.72
  • The degree to which the 9.92 was ran with so much ease, during the better part of the last half of the race, suggests that he is capable of something much faster than 9.72 (which has been stated numerous times here already)
  • so 9.92 is 98% of his previous state of preparedness:readiness and, for the sake of hypothesis, if we propose that the 98% looked more like a lesser percentage of what he is currently capable of from a preparedness:readiness standpoint then here’s some numbers based upon simple math alone (multiplying 9.92 by the following percents in order to arrive at his current, assumed, potential):
    98%= 9.92
    97%= 9.62
    96%= 9.52

Regardless of the efficacy of this rudimentary means of prediction, it certainly provides for further conversation.

Interesting but I dont understand the last part:

98%= 9.92
97%= 9.62
96%= 9.52

??

It doesnt matter too many if’s and but’s.

Bolt is cruising baby.

he means 98%=9.72

To predict what it means exactly, you need 50 and 60m split times but I suspct there’s plenty left in the tank. for example, bolt ran 9.92 looking similar in Trinidad before the 9.72 in NY except he had a poor reaction time there. In any event, i think a WR is likely with so many scorpions in one bottle.

we just need a wind behind em, something like a 1.8m/s and 9.5 is definitely in sight.

We shall see starting in about 6 more hrs.

6 more? ? wut

The next round is 9:50pm central time with finals 9:30am central time?

Whats 9:50 pm central time?

100meters…

9:50 pm the womens 100m heats?

In a post race interview he said he got a good start and just executed it after that. Asked how much is left in the engine he replied a lot and then had a relaxed laugh

This is going to be very contraversial, but I think Bolt put more effort in than Asafa. This is the first time I have seen this race. Besides his head moving left and right, he ran pretty hard. You guys (not you James) made it seems like he jogged 9.92. Powell looked like he was striding it more. But then again at the Commonwealth Games in o6, Asafa jogged it even more than he did there, and only went 10 flat in the final. Will see in the final I guess.

Now I agree with you on this topic bolt did not jog at all, sorry to your hurt feelings guys.

I think I am qualified enough to judge race effort- and Bolt ws NOT ging all out. We’ll see what that looks like tomorrow.
