I ran the 100M and the 400M today. The weather was nice, but a bit cool. About 55 degrees F. I was also feeling good, but I was a bit heavier than I should be. 206.8. Which is about 8-9 lbs heavier than I was earlier this year. Still, I was feeling good.
On the 100M I ran 11.73, which was a .08 second PR. Considering there was a good headwind (1-1.5 m/s), I think I did really well. I got out of the blocks well, held my form, and carried it out through the finish. If I get a good wind, I can break 11.5 next meet.
After that, I ran the 400M. There wasn’t enough rest between the 1 and the 4 in my opinion, but what can you do? I ran from lane 5 and used a standing start and hit 54.60, which is a .26 second PR. I didn’t handle the run well though and thought I was going to have an aneurysm afterwards. I also lost what little food I had in my stomach. Long story short, I looked bad enough afterwards to where my dad said I couldn’t run any more 400s until I trained for them. I’m kind of glad I don’t have to do them anymore.
The times weren’t what I was looking for, but they’re both PRs and I guess I’m happy. I’d like favorable winds next meet and would really like to hit under 11.50.
Stimulants were 100mg of caffeine taken an hour before race time. I handled it well and will use more next week. And that Metamucil idea is probably good. I’m a lot heavier than I need to be. I ran better this winter and spring when I was lighter.
Its hard to tell, but I would work on driving out more bc you seem to be upright by your second or third step. Im sure you could run faster in a better meet bc i would have a tough time running fast at the kind of meet your racing at.
Sounds good. My quad strength needs some work and it makes me want to get upright as soon as possible. I could definitely benefit by staying low for longer though.
Yes, domination. That’s what I like to see. Start talking shit round Alaska to see if you can drum up some competition. You have one chance to make it a real hot summer.
You need some competition. I mean - what the hell was going on in the two inside lanes? They must have been in the 14-15second area. Was everyone there the same age?
Mortac, nobody around here cares about T&F. And why do people keep saying, “real hot summer?” I’m kind of confused if everyone is referring to something or what.
Rainy, there is no competition in Alaska. The people in that race were everyone who was scheduled to run the 100M that meet.
Not bad. My mom and sister moved back from Georgia and I’ve been moving all of their stuff so my back is a bit sore. Other than that though, I’m feeling great.
My last meet is one that spans two days (tomorrow and Thursday). I’ll be doing the 100M tomorrow and the 50M and either the 200 or 400M on Thursday.
And for once, the weather is looking like it’s going to be nice. It’s sunny out and everything and I might not be running the in 50s (degrees) this time.
I hope so. I think I’ll hit 11.5, especially since I’m going to get my warm up right this time. Last time around I did more than twice the volume of my usual warm up because the 3200 ran way long. An old man and a little kid were running it so it took like half an hour and I just did accels to keep warm. Looking back, doing 3-4 extra 50s probably wasn’t the best idea considering my work capacity.
This was my third and final 100M of the season and I got 11.66 FAT. A .07 PR from last meet and a .46 second PR from last year.
The wind was a very light crosswind and the conditions were just over 60 degrees. I got out on my first couple of steps well but then got overzealous and hit flat on steps 3 and 4. I pulled it together though and coasted the rest of the way. This was by far the smoothest 100M I’ve ever run, but my top speed was far from stellar.
Tomorrow I have the 50M and 400M (maybe). I’d like to break into the 53s or at least get to the point where I’m hitting 4 fulls seconds faster than last year.
