Rest Period

I was looking at Training for Speed and you have an annual plan for Ben in 1987. I wondered what activities you did during the rest periods, say like between June and July. Did you still continue to do tempo. I assume all other activities would not occur.

There was a very brief break of 5 to 7 days allowed for which consisted of active recovery and limited tempo etc.

Would the active recorvery just include medicine ball. Would it include anything else. I assume you wouldn’t do any track sessions or weights sessions.

Active recovery depends on preference and location relative to training venues, grass fields, pool, etc. It also depends on athlete level as the higher the athlete’s level and background, the smaller the degree of drop a week off would have, meaning he might do little to nothing.
