Resisted sprint programming

I have used resisted sprints with all of my team sport athletes. I am curious as to others who use this most of the year, how you have planned workouts?

Currently I use 5 reps of about 15 yards as a base. Every few weeks, I’ll go up to 2 sets of 5. I balance resisted sprints with med ball throws, so usually on the 2 x 5 week, there are no throws.

I have about 17 yards of running room, so doing anything longer than a 5 yard reaction drill is out of question.

I have a similar training area, I am curious as to what you are using for resistance? We use sleds and partner resisted harnesses. That is usually combined with sprints over 15 yards (we have about 25 yds to work with). We do sets of 3 for each and don’t go over 12 reps – under 600 yds. We are trying to teach them to be explosive. The athletes are also required to do squats and box jumps appropriate for them usaully during that workout time also. Seems to be working for us, I am open to suggestions.
