Question on split runs by John Smith

I was going through Ato Boldon’s diary from the winter of 2000-2001 that was posted on his website (still partly available on web.archive.org BTW) and noticed tempo sessions such as:

  • 3x200 (25.1-25.0-23),or
  • 300 (35.4) 200 (22.6), or
  • 400 (52) 200 (21.2)
I first thought this was remarkably slow stuff for an athlete of this caliber. But it then dawned on me that it could in fact be more of a 500-600m split run. The breaks between the runs are not mentioned. Does anybody know what they were?

you really think John might let that info out?
Doubt it.
It reminds when I met one of Charlie’s former athletes in Europe post 1988 who made claim he didnt believe in vitamins when on to win the gold medal. I told Charlie and he almost throttled me for even the slightest hint I might believe this person.
Unless you see it your self it is very hard to know for sure what anyone says.

And when you know you are being watched the games start, the words seldom match the visuals.

Angela, after reading some of your posts I have to ask, are you and my wife sisters
