Question about getting into college meets unattached?

I will be going to college after the summer, and was curious how one exactly goes about entering unattached into college meets?

I had a website that you could go through to get into meets, but lost the address to it. Do you just contact the track and field coach, and say you want to run and pay him or what?

Yea you can just ask the coach who’s running the meet. Try to inquire about it at least a week beforehand. Sometimes they’ll let you in and sometimes they won’t.

Did you mean www.directathletics.com?

Yep, that is the one I was talking about. Thanks for finding it for me.

Another question. I’ve heard most all coaches/meets will let you run in them with no real question. Just pay a small fee, and your in. But how you said it, it sounds like there is some that wont. What percentage of meets will let people run unnattached in meets (what would you estimate)?

I’d say you could probably get in 75% of the meets.

were are you from. If you are in fla i can give u some sites, but check the calender section of usatf for alot of meets open.

I will be going the University of South Carolina next year, but plan on transferring after the first year. One college I plan on transferring to is in Florida. So, if you could give me the address’s of the sites, I would be interested. Thanks.

www.flrunners.com
www.coacho.com
http://www.usat-ntc.com/

U can also go the websites of schools and check there schedule

This is the exact opposite of what I experienced this spring. None of the local colleges allowed me to enter. Maybe I need to make travel plans for next year.

Its about who you know and your times. No one is going to let you jump in a meet unless you are an elite athlete or you know the coach. Especially in florida.

www.usantc.com is your best bet.
