What do people eat for protien in the AM? Right now I usually eat oatmeal with raisins and usually a piece of fruit. However Im just too damn lazy or in a hurry to make eggs. Plus I hate cleaning the pan afterwards. What does the forum eat for protien on the morning fly??
I drink protein shake… its nice and easy when I’m in a hurry and also tired.
Im on a budget, so a protien shake is out of the question right now. I was thinking maybe turkey sausage or tukey bacon, but I dont really know how healthy they are. Im def trying to stay away from the regular AM meat products with all that fat.
I have chicken breast already cooked.
Microwave, voila.
Microwaves are evil to an athlete…
You can get a decent whey protein that is much, much cheaper than whole food nowadays, at least in the US. A few cheap options: Go look at dpsnutrition.net and check out their selection of brands or go to www.allthewhey.com and get 5 lbs of whey concentrate.
Shaf
How about hard boiling the eggs - then you can take em with you when you go if ur in a hurry
Alternatively try some cottage cheese which would also help to make you more alert ( tyrosine )
But a cheap ( but good ) whey shake can’t be beat - it goes down nice an easy while your still stumbling round scratchin ur arse and treading on the cat
I take a protein bar and a bottle of h2O to my first class.
When I have time I reheat it in a pan!!!
Or sometimes not at all
The microwave is a scary thing
No problem, I was just doing my Clemson impersonation.
haha it got me going!

Classic case of bad planning and attitude.
Key phrases…Lazy…morning fly…hurry.
Get to bed early and prepare real meals. I am of course writing an article called BUILDFAST on how to make meals that taste good without huge prep times. Still wake up and get it done. Do this Slow Man…by low carb grow and add it to yogurt (organic) and you have 30+ grams of protein in 30 seconds.
Microwaves tend to have feeble burritos that make feeble bodies…stay away.
CLemson,
on the odd occasion you let your athlete eat oats, do you have them heat it at all, and if so in the microwave or in a saucepan?
Re Oats
I soak mine overnight with a handful of raisins and blueberries. Voila, ready to go in the morning. Eat them straight, tastes quality.
I ususally have either
-
bowl of oatmeal raisin, dry with no milk, with slices of banana in it & wash it down with glass of water to get rid of the digestives juices (which usually create stomach pains)
-
scrammbled eggs (with or w/out yolk) with cottage cheese and couple slices of whole wheat toast with glass of water to get rid of the digestives juices (which usually create stomach pains)
-
Couple slices of pancake with Yogurt (light) spread on it with glass of water to get rid of the digestives juices (which usually create stomach pains)
wait is oatmeal not good to eat in the AM?? Ive always felt it gave me much more energy than anything else. As for cottage cheese and yogurt, Im lactose intolerant…especially in the AM. I know you all wanted to know that bit of info. But anyway, I look forward to your article Clemson. Eggs everyday gets monotonous.
Oatmeal can be microwaved…its fuel not nurishment
good point.
With that in mind do you steam vegetables or put any fruit/veg through any processing bar cutting?
The only cutting that should be done for vegetables is for salads, fruit should be consumed the way cave men have. Steamed should be evening if necessary. Cooking is a skill not only to make it taste great, but to keep the temp low in order to keep the minerals and vitamins.
Already cooked salmon and cottage cheese are options.
