Program for Max Strength and Explosiveness

It has been my experience that athletes other than olympic lifters perform the olympic lifts with maximal weights much slower than the speed that would be needed to be classified as speed-strength work. With this said, if you believe in using the olympic lifts as a means to increase explosive strength, I would recomend a ME day (85% and above for 1-2reps/set for strength-speed) and a DE day (40%-70% 2-5reps/set for speed-strength). This is just my opinion because ME work will be considerably slower than DE work.

what are your thoughts on a setup that includes 3 days in the weight room:
ME squat/dead, ME powerclean/ME upper, DE/RE lower/upper… in addition to track work ofcourse.

I might switch the ME clean/upper day with DE/RE lower/upper day because ME cleans/upper are going to severely tax the CNS due to holding big weight in the hands. Depending on the type of athlete that you are; there needs to be an emphasis on the most important aspect of training for the current stage of competition calendar.
