Problem with stride

Lately I seemed to have developed a bad habit with my stride, I have my foot land too much in front of me when it strikes the ground. My coach and I figured this out after taping one of my workouts I was wondering how I would fix this problem and how I might have developed this habit so I dont do it again

You’re probably kicking in front. It’s a very common mistake when athlete’s first hear about the wonders of lengthening stride length, as the athlete thinks that lengthening the stride is stretching your leg out and reaching for more ground on each step, when in reality stride length is increased by better hip height. So concentrate on hip position and good knee lift, and stride length will increase, forget about reaching in front to try to “lengthen” your stride.

Good points ALN, another solution(in addition to keeping the hips elevated-when hips are higher your feet don’t really have the opportunity to land a significant distance to the front) might be to focus on proper and continuous arm action. If your arm swing/technique is not adequate, then that will affect your stride length/and frequency. I see some athletes actually stopping/hesitating their arm action at the ends of the arm swings both in front and back. As a result, they appear to be bounding rather than sprinting. As CF has pointed out so many times here and elsewhere that focus on proper arm action can help to correct many other problems or even prevent them from ever occurring.

Yea damn you hit the source I did start to have those problems when I heard about the wonders. Yea Ill try what you all have told me next time I get on the track.
