As far as I am aware both have active ingredients that are either prohibited or are in the process of being prohibited (which also then means their discussion here is forbidden).

Most of the stuff in that is already in the chocamine. So why pay 30.00 when you can pay $11 for the pure powder?

No all you need is a teaspoon or table spoon.

What do you guys think of using creatine pre-race??
I’ve got a 60m race tomorrow, I’ve been off creatine for 2 weeks now, I just wonder whether I should take maybe 2grams. Although I read a study recently that found caffeine cancels creatines effects if taken together - and ill definately be taking caffiene.

Pointless to take creatine before a 60m.

Does this apply for caffeine pills as well? I’ve got a comp tomorrow and have some proplus pills - 50mg of caffeine each. How long before the race should I take them? I currently have a redbull 60mins before. But if caffeine pills can effect in 20mins??

Maybe 1 on the hour and another half an hour before…

30min is fine for me especially if you chew them

cool. I might have my usual redbull an hour before for comfort then take a pro-plus half an hour before. Then the same before the final :smiley:

What about Charlie’s recommendation to take 5g arginine? I take this just before the start of warmup, which for me lasts 1:30-1:45. Works fine for me and a LOT cheaper than some of the stuff being mentioned here.

i know a large amount of caffeine will set off a positive drug test, but about how much is too much?

as long as you’re drinking coffee and not taking caffeine pills, you should be OK.

The amount of caffeine you need to test positive is more than you would even want for optimal performance. You’d probably be better off w/o it at that point.

How did the comp go?

As said, chew the pills. It depends whats in them as to the time uptake of the body. The binding agent is an added extra you can eliminated with a powdered form.

I’d dismiss the redbull if the powdered (or tablet) versions are available, there is just no point adding the same thing (caffiene) but with the extra no so good goodies (sugar etc)!

What about sugar free red bull??

Chewing the caffeine pill was maybe the most bitter thing I’ve ever tasted :eek: (Pro plus contains 50mg, Coffee contains 100-135mg i think). I tried to eliminate almost all caffeine from my diet over the past two weeks and today I felt a real effect from the caffeine.
By my own standards I did really well, it’s only my second race back after two years out of racing (i’m also an injured T/L jumper, not a sprinter). I got the 60m gold at the Welsh Senior Indoors (Tim Abeyie was competing in Glasgow today however). I got a PB - 6.97 and will now compete in the Celtic cup next weekend. 6.90 is AAA indoor qualifying and I feel it’s within my reach as i didn’t get my hips in a position to hit top gear today (alot of strain went onto already tight hip flexors).

I am now experiencing a big come down from the caffeine :frowning: and am going to bed…
