Poll on what supplement companies most of us use?

I gotcha…

Clemson-

Have you ever had any issues with “overuse” of nootropic agents like Spike and Go!? I kinda agree with Number Two on the thought that L-Tyrosine can lead to overtraining if you are not used to its effects. Using something like Go! for every training session can mask the effects of fatigue. If you don’t know your body or Tyrosine, this can lead to trouble.

Same thing can be said with BCAAs as well. I think the use should be for athletes in school as well as those with work stress. I find mental fatigue to be key and training not to be an issue.

Treat it as a bonus to the CNS not to mask fatigue so you can “train harder and more”.

I never prescribe it to athletes that I distance coach. Too risky.

Thanks for the response Clemson, I appreciate it.

MisterC, did you contact BSL to get cytofuse? I’m a bit confused as to which number Clemson suggested we call.

I’d like to get either Whey Supremacy or Cytofuse for post workout. Whey Supremacy sounds good (I always trust Clemson) and is pretty cheap. Cytofuse sounds like it may be better post-workout, though as you’d have to take in some high GI with the Whey Supremacy.

From what I understand, this is the number to call 630-444-1800

However, I have not had the chance to call and order yet, and I plan on doing that probably on Thursday.

I stick with these brands for the basics:

Casein MRP- GROW! Chocolate (Biotest)

Whey Isolate/Micellar Casein- Low Carb GROW! Chocolate or Banana (Biotest)

ZMA- Biotest

Creatine Monohydrate- Prolab

Multi-Vitamin- Usually GNC Mega-Man

Fish Oil- Kirkland

Pre-workout- 200mg caffeine, Powerdrive (If I have it on hand)

For post workout, I sometimes go with the whey isolate and gatorade/creatine mixture, but I have used Cytofuse and loved it! I also have used the RTD’s at the gym, ABB Mass Recovery drinks… (60g carb-Maltodextrin, 34g protein-whey isolate)

That’s about it for the basics. I don’t use power drive too often; only have bought it once. I like the quality of the Biotest supps, good prices, and their quality; especially the protein and ZMA.

For the Multi-vitamin I use

Forget the kirkland fish oils. Split a capsule open and smell the contents. If it smells fishy, and it will, its rancid. Quality fish oil is very expensive since processing that avoids the rancidiy problem is not easy.

Here is what I’ve been using lately, as well as some of my athletes. All ingredients are high quality, and we have some good assurances that the risk of contamination is not an issue.

NumberTwo,

FROST has 5850 but I don’t think the second generation will be too much higher. 3-5 grand is enough but I will speak to the big guns for higher scores.

I’ve cut open all my brands of fish oil, and they are all fishy smelling. So, fishy smelling = rancid? Should we stick to refrigerated oils, and expensive versions like OmegaBrite?

A lot of good products are available. When I ask my supplement gurus for what is going on the testing is key. But when you ask someone to spend a day or hundreds of dollars to test something I can only go with omegabrite or searslabs. When someone on a board uses their own money (see avantlabs.com) to evaluate a product then I give them a pat on the back and say thank you. I drive a beat up car and live off of 35 grand…I can’t help the community as much.
