This year after my season ends, I’m planning on focusing my time for training for baseball. The baseball season for me extends from March to July, which leaves me 5 months of offseason and 2 months of preseason training followed by another 5 months of inseason workouts. Unlike other sports, I can’t use a program for maintainence because my season is too long. So if my offseason begins in August my plan for a yearly split would look like this:
Offseason pt. 1: Build functional mass (5x5 program)
Offseason pt. 2: Gain Speed-Strength (Oly lifting, plyos, sprints)
Preseason: Baseball specific work, spring training in Florida
Inseason pt. 1: Something other than maintenence work
Inseason pt. 2: Switching up pt. 1
Another problem I have is making an olympic lifting program. My initial plan is following Dan John’s methods that he covers in his E-book “From the Ground up”. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
