Perfect 4x4 relay change
According to Steve Cram of the BBC, Asafa ran 8.87 secs or around that time for his leg of the relay. What would happen to the world record if he could decrease his 30m time (acceleration) even further? He certainly doesn’t lack speed maintenance thats for sure…

whats up with asafa’s left arm? is it on the way out or back there? does he normally start like that?
Would say it is on the way out as he is quite far from full extension off the front block. Although the arms preceed the legs slightly, I don’t think it is that much.
Relay splits may (should) come from the baton, so free distance at the start of the leg.
You know, looking at these 4 x 1 relay pictures, I just realized that the runners can’t mark up the track. LOL! At our track, the corners are all marked up with tape for the outgoing runners’ markers. I guess you can’t do that at Worlds 
No wonder it’s so hard to judge distances at those speeds. I would have been lost in relays without my little tape markers! Ah, memories.
