BIOMECH: SPLITS FROM OSAKA
Message from PJ

"I came across Wariner intermediate times in semi final, they come from the statistical dpt, not biomechanical, dont ask me why… Times are nit given to hundredths though

10.8 21.2 32.1 44.34
10.8 10.4 10.9 12.2

"From the biomech dpt, these are results from yesterday

4x100m relay men
USA 10.28 9.22 9.05 9.23
JAM 10.60 9.05 9.40 8.84

4x100m relay women
USA 11.05 10.28 10.44 10.21
JAM 11.05 10.38 10.52 10.06

“BUT for women i suspect the biomec team did a mistake with the first leg Lauryn Williams 11.05 Brooks 11.05 Laura Turner 11.13 Grigoryeva 11.20 then the second legs are too slow all this doesnt make sense they surely have done a mistake and calculate from the wrong line. Also i have noticed some typo mistakes on the fast reports, i hope all this will be cleared for the final report which will be published later.”

I will collate other splits from the various biomech and stats groups in Osaka and post in this thread, however anyone else who has the time and can find the posts in other threads is welcome to contribute (please)…kk

4 x 4 men’s Final (unofficial)

(Merritt 44.4, Taylor 43.8, Williamson 44.33, Wariner 43.09)

400m Final
split times from biomechanics team IAAF/JAAF

10.75 20.92 31.58 37.18 43.45 Wariner
10.77 20.88 31.68 37.47 43.96 Merritt
10.88 20.90 31.88 37.83 44.32 Taylor
11.10 21.22 31.66 ee.ee 43.18 Johnson (world record, Sevilla99)

200 splits

They only give top 3

Gay 5.74 10.13 14.75 19.76
Bolt 5.69 10.15 14.85 19.91

Felix 6.19 11.15 16.28 21.81

Powell in 8.84? For real?

Men’s 100m Final:

Top speed : Gay 11.83m/s at 65m, Atkins 11.74m/s at 55m, Powell 11.79m/s at 55m

Intermediate times

RT then 10m sections

0,143 1,90 1,04 0,92 0,88 0,85 0,85 0,85 0,85 0,86 0,86 Gay
0,143 1,90 2,94 3,86 4,73 5,59 6,44 7,28 8,13 8,99 9,85 Gay

0,137 1,90 1,03 0,94 0,89 0,86 0,85 0,86 0,85 0.86 0,87 Atkins
0,137 1,90 2,93 3,87 4,75 5,62 6,47 7,33 8,18 9,04 9,91 Atkins

0,145 1,87 1,04 0,93 0,88 0,86 0,85 0,87 0,87 0,88 0,93 Powell
0,145 1,87 2,91 3,83 4,71 5,57 6,42 7,28 8,15 9,03 9,96 Powell

So Charlie was right, Gay had fastest top speed. Without the biomec report, it was visibly Gay who had fastest top speed since he passed Asafa at 60m mark and that usually around that point where they reach their top speed.

COMMENTS & SPLIT INFO PROVIDED FOR THE FORUM BY PJ

KK, that TG split from 60-70m should be a .84 rather than a .85.

USA - Trotter 51.3, Felix 48.0, Wineberg 50.24, Richards 49.06
GB - Ohuruogu 50.5, Okoro 50.9, McConnell 49.8, Sanders 48.8

thanks Pioneer, thanks TMSSF

it’s getting to be a handy little collection, a potentially useful reference resource for everyone here.

Intermediate times and 10m intervals times and speeds didnt always matched in the original papers.

Nice finishing from Tyson into a slight headwind. 4.26 for the final 50m and 3.41 for the final 40m are amongst the fastest ever seen and into a headwind they are worth a lil quicker

Allyson really ran away with the race in the final 50m but still would’ve lost close to 3m on Flo-Jo in Seoul ! [Flo Jo 150-200m: 5.24 … 16.10 to 21.34 from Official Biomechanical Data] [Allyson 150-200m: 5.53 … 6.28 to 21.81]

I actually disagree with their 4x100m Split-times and find different numbers for several of the legs run by the USA & JAM Teams, but their 200m data for Tyson, Usain & Wallace look right on

  1. Belgium 42.75 NR (Belgium’s first women’s medal ever)
    (Borlee 11.37, Mariën 10.71, Ouédraogo 10.50, Gevaert 10.17)

What a mess that was at the second exchange in the men’s final!

Apparently Pickering got a 9.05 split down the backstraight in the 4x1!!

Do you have the splits for the GB 4 x 1 boys?

Thanks

Sorry, Craig just text me his split. That’s all I know at the moment. I will text him and see if he has the rest.
