off camber track

the trtack that i workout on is off camber, it slopes down from lane 1-lane 8. I was wondering what you all thought about this uneven surface causing damage to the hips, hams and shins… thanks all!

any more thoughts on this. I went back and saw some athletes today… ones with stress injuries had them mostly on the left feet, and muscle injuries on the right leg. does this coincide with your thougths?

Do the athletes left legs bow slightly more than the right?

I would think it’s not safe.

Due to the chamber forces are not the same on both legs as a result muscle imbalances will occur which increase the risk of injury.

Very true.

Running on the bend the joints on the inside leg tend to cop a hiding due to the differences in forces, a track with such camber would exacerbate this.

I will check on that and get back at ya

How much does it chamber.

My local track slopes (a little) to helps with run off into drains from rain.

I tend to run in both directions fairly evenly.

I agree with DMA. Switch directions (straight line only!).

Sometimes i’ll run the opposite way on the curve just to keep everything balanced. It always feels wierd no matter how often I do it.

Do you all think that it feels wierd for left handed people to run the normal way around the curve?

Treb - didn’t Donovan Bailey do that as well.

I think the wierd feeling is only because you are trained not to do it. Like writing with the opposite hand.

alright all, so i did some measurements and some math, and the track slopes 1.27 deg. from our 8 lane track, roughly 8.534m wide, this equates to a 18cm drop from the inside of lane 1 to the outside of lane 2. i will definitely do one direction, and go back and forth. any further comments?? should I find a new track? thanks all
