Need Help

I’ve participate in the indoor season up till now and feel I should take a break over christmas. I feel exhausted and slower than when I started. My first meet which I expected to be a 6.55 was a 6.78 on the 55m. I think am exhausted now because my workouts in the summer leading to the indoor season was high in intensity. what would be advisable? doing tempo on trendmill or resting for 2weeks over christmas break.
