My Stuff

Hey guys you seem knowleadgeable so I’m gonna ask for help again, I’m trying to get alot of perspectives on training.
Last year my first year of track I ran 11.74H 100m and 24.3 or so 200 as a sophomore.
I want to run high tens and 22’s this junior year. Don’t tell me that its not possible just tell me the ways i could do it, what would i need to do?

PS This last year i had terrible form and no starting technique, it was all out from the get go with my shoulders swinging back and fourth. I include this just to show that because these things were far from perfect more improvement can be made.

Buy the Charlie Francis Training System ebook and probably the Forum Review ebook as well. They fill in a lot of the blanks to the information this site offers.

not asking for a product reccomendation

This sight is not about handouts - do a little bit of the work - contribute - go to clinics - buy some products and learn than discuss how to improve on the knowledge.

This is not a soup kitchen

Hahahahahha

You don’t have to buy products but you do have a responsibility to look around the forum for information that’s here for free (the soup’s on!).
That way, you learn and can better judge the advice you get here to decide if it’s right for you and your stage of development.
If you want to take things further, there are products to help you see what’s needed for high performance. It’s all up to you.

haha someone finally said what i was thinkin. that being said, you should look around first. more specific questions will get more specific answers. i know some places where you can get very basic sprint information that will help you get on your way, though i think i read somewhere that if i post them i could be banned. also, CFTS has good starting info if youre willing to put money towards learning. there is also a lot on information to be found on this forum, you just have to put in some effort to find it.

If someone is not willing to search the site nor buy some of the informational products, then they don’t care enough about their training in the first place and are lazy. I got plenty of info from this site (for free) and used it before I ever bought a product, but this came from searching and not making a feed-me post.

What do you need to do? Sprint, lift, stretch, do tempo, recover, etc.

yeah but truthfully i can understand being initially overwhelmed. you dont need to buy products to learn the basics of sprint training. when i finally bought CFTS i found it actually contributed little to what id already learned. not to say that info isnt good, but almost all of it is already out on the net in various places if you bother to look. also, CFTS is structured in a way that is not entirely user friendly. the forum review i didnt think too much of, except the charts in the back. the bottom line is, just as asking a general question might be lazy, so is just telling someone to buy a product. your second response was much better. to improve sprint performance, you need to do 3 things: speed work, tempo, and GS. how to do these things and when to do them are different questions, ones he should ask next.

“The soup’s on” ; but you have to feed yourself here. Don’t expect to be spoon fed.

Someone once said, “Spend about 10 hours a week studying a subject, and after about 5 years you will have a basic understanding of the subject. That’s when you really start to learn.”

Be patient and consistant. Good luck.

You pretty much have to buy the CFTS to understand what’s in the soup, though.

The best thing you could do for yourself/your team is to get your coach to come to this site if he/she has not already. If your coach is going to determine most/all of your workouts, you need that individual to come to this site to lear/search and perhaps purchase some of the products which do give a much better example of the total picture of sprinting/recovery/planning.
Hopefully, your coach is willing to learn but if not you will need to do it. Use the search engine for I would guess that the vast majority of general questions you could have, have at least been already discussed here numerous times. I purchase the legendary Speed Trap back in 1991(great book) and CFTS in 1992(also tremendous) and am still learning, to this day, how to implement, design, and adjust the overall program based largely on the information from this site and certainly from the books/dvd’ that are available here.
If it is you alone who will determine your program and consequently your ultimate success, then start with the search engine regarding various topics of sprinting/training/weights, etc. and get ready to do some serious reading. There is much to be learned here. Good luck.
