I just saw “phonebooth” with Kiefer Sutherland…in a wierd way it was a good movie.
Whats it about?
Its a about a guy being stalked by a guy with a high powered sniper rifle. Guy #1 finds himself in a phone booth with Guy #2 calling him and telling him “if you leave the phone booth…BANG”.
I went to see it a few months ago - just to see how a film could literally ‘be confined to a phone box’ - it is!!
I thought it was an excellent film.
I thought Farrells performance was very good … the whole story was very good.
Great to see Sutherland on the big screen again - even though his part was only added at the end!!!.
Not the best film ever - but very, very entertaining.
Interestingly - Joel Schumacher made it on a shoe-string budget - made the whole thing in 8 or 10 days and most on the first take - he made it a long time ago (in 2000 I think), but held it and refused to release it until Farrell made it big - he had a feeling after Farrells other film ‘Tigerland’ that Farrell would make it big - and then he released it - making a fortune.
How about Lost Boys with Joel Schumacher and Kiefer Sutherland. I just saw that on DVD yesterday. Good movie:cool:
I like 80’s music, and that movie has some killer 80’s music.
I saw the Hulk a few months ago it was okay I guess but it was kind of boring accept for tha one action scene in the dessert but other than that the hulk was kind of dull.
The best movie has to be Independence Day that was the bomb.

anybody see “ghost dog-way of the samuri”? it may sound corny but i thought it was great, very underated
directed by jim jarmusch, a great director, also starring forest whitaker
True - not a bad movie - but it every time I see Forest Whitaker I’m reminded of The Crying Game - and I still get a shock thinking of that scene … Uh!!!
Another useless piece of data - Jaye Davidson - was ill on set and a doctor was called. The Doctor looked at Jaye Davidson briefly and asked Jaye a few questions and took Jayes pulse and suggested that he - Jaye - might be pregnant!!!

no23: Seems we have more in common than just training ideas!
Cool Hand Luke, When We Were Kings, Hoop Dreams, Anything with Ed Norton or Paul Newman. Totally with you on those.
BTW I’m British so know nothing about basketball beyond Jordan and Magic but Hoop Dreams just blows me away every time I watch it (and that’s pretty often).

Did you ever see or do u knwo the name of a very similar movie but it had wesley snipes as the sniper and he was holding some woman hostage? I'll post the actresses' name if I can remember it.
I think sometimes Moore starts lumping everything together and this is where he loses some of his credibility. For instance saying that he thought Kosovo might have provoked the Columbine violence. I don’t know much about the Kosovo situation but from what I do know it sounds like it was a necessary action. Also, the bombing of the asprin factory was obviously a horrible, horrible, horrible mistake, but I do not think it was a calculated and malicious act.
Notwithstanding, I have seen the movie twice and feel it is superb and needs to be seen, especially the “Wonderful World” scene besides the aspirin factory clip, but that’s why it pains me to see scenes like it because I think many people see them as not a little bit of over excitement but something that makes the whole movie lose its truthfulness.
I took the Kosovo comments a different way, lumpy…yes…Michael Moores lumpy. But I like him, is it still worth renting on DVD or VHS…??? Tough call. I can say I wouldn’t buy it for my private collection.
Rupert, have u seen Moore’s “Canadian Bacon”? Still one of the funniest movies in my opinion. I’m sure u Canucks will get an extra chuckle out of it. I enjoyed Bowling For Columbine very much, also.
Pete, David W,
I don’t know is it a case of ‘good taste’ or ‘sad existence’ when I have seen so many films!!!
Me like you David - knew nothing of BBall except MJ and then a friend brought me a few books - Hoop Dreams, Money players, A season on the brink … all excellent books
Hoop Dreams - very good - I had read the book first and loved it. I then read John Feinsteins - A Season on the Brink - One of the truely great sporting books - if you haven’t read it you might like it David.
Confession - The only book though that almost made me cry was Feinsteins ‘A Civil War’. (forgive me it’s a long time since I read it and cn’t remember names acuractly) When I read the story about the young footbaler and his brother during Gulf War I, and the events surrounding and preceding it, it really moved me.
