EVER SINGLE MEDAL MICHAEL JOHNSON HAS WON IS GOLD.

0 SILVER, 0 BRONZE.

There has been no one, no one who has the resume or dominated over two sprint events. He ahs won no World or Olympic titles by default absolute flawless, his style was impetuous.

“Michael Johnson once said, I don’t step on the track if am not 100% sure I am gonna win” I am 20years old, I can count on one Hand how many times I have witnessed him beaten, Michael Johnson is the definition of Track and Field dominance “In sprint Events”.

END OF DEBATE.

FACT OF THE MATTER IS MICHAEL JOHNSON IS THE GREATEST SPRINTER OF ALL-TIME IN TWO SPRINT EVENTS 200M/400M. AND OVERALL THE GREATEST

http://www.michaeljohnsonmotivation.com/bio.htm

He also has the WR for the 300m with 30.85, I beleive it still stands.

he is the greatest sprinter ever, nough said

Indeed.

MJ is the greatest 200-400m sprinter ever. What about the 100m? 60m indoor?
Maurice Greene anybody?
-50m Tied WR 5.56 - but was never ratified
-60m WR - 6.39 - Ran that time on two-diff occasions!
-100m former WR - 9.79
-200m PB - 19.86
-2000 Olympic Gold Medal 100m
-3 Time 100m World Champ
-First person to reign as World Champ in both 60m and 100m
-Only person to hold 60m and 100m WR at the same time
-First person to legally run sub 9.8
-52 Career sub 10 100m races
-9 legal sub 10 races in 1 year
-Has run 9.90 or faster 17 times

MO
-100m - 9.79 - #5 All-Time Fastest
MJ
-100m - 10.09 - #1173 All-Time Fastest

MO
-200m - 19.86 - #38 All-Time Fastest
MJ
-200m - 19.32 - #1 All-Time Fastest

It seems Mo is better at MJs event than vise-versa.

I beleive there is even less room for error in a 100m event, making it even harder to dominate then a 200m or even a 400m event. Also shorter events have a higher risk of injury, I think we can all agree on that. Not sure if Mo is ‘greater’ than MJ, but I would say his accomplishments equal MJ’s, since their events differ. You have to put that into the equation.

Good little video for this thread. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TXhpj-9XM1w

I say Flo-Jo. Her record is still out of this world.

MO
-100m - 9.79 - #5 All-Time Fastest
MJ
-100m - 10.09 - #1173 All-Time Fastest

MO
-200m - 19.86 - #38 All-Time Fastest
MJ
-200m - 19.32 - #1 All-Time Fastest

It seems Mo is better at MJs event than vise-versa.

Yeh, well if you’re gonna put in 2 of MO’s best events, and only one of MJ’s you also need to put in the 400m, otherwise it is completely biased. MO trained for 200 as well in his prime, MJ is famous for his lack of speed work…

Also shorter events have a higher risk of injury, I think we can all agree on that.

perhaps…hamstrings certainly, but overuse injuries are gonna be much more common among the longer sprinters, and there’s more chance there bodies will break down form exhaustion.

Anyways, I think carl lewis is better then MO, but that is definitely my own opinion and MO may very well be better, I dunno.

What they really need is an event that tests sprinters like every 4 years. You could have a sprint heptathlon or something (15m, 40m, 80m, 150m, 250m, 350m, 450m) or something along those lines. Perhaps not too practical but mouth-watering for spectators.

Maurice Greene - The GREATEST Sprinter of all time, space and molecular displacement!

Anyone who could dispute this is crazy…!!

DOES THE NAME BEN JOHNSON RING A BELL.

ciao

I think he would have been but his career was cut very short. I dont think he even hit his prime.

I never made it biased. Mo is #1 all-time for 60m and unofficially 50m, I didn’t include that. MJ didn’t run those. MJ is #1 all-time for 300m and 400m, I didn’t include those, Mo didn’t run those.

The greatest overall sprinter of all-time is Michael Johnson, nobody has dominated 2 sprint events like he did. World, Olympics, World Records, wining on a conistent basis thats the big factor here. He is the greatest overall sprinter of all-time, Ben Johnson does not compare, somebody who only did one event the 100m. Michael Johnson had ability of 100, 200, 400m and totally dominated the 200m and 400m for 10 years.

That’s the big factor, no polls needed Look at them achievements, LOOK AT THEM.

No Poll needed Michael Johnson greatest overall sprinter of all-time.

THIS IS ABOUT GREATEST OVERALL SPRINTER AND OVER THE WHOLE SCHEME OF THINGS IT IS MICHAEL JOHNSON NOBODY COMPARES.

The greatest overall sprinter is Michael Johnson. Maurice Greene is the greatest 100m sprinter of all-time, but overall sprinter is Michael Johnson. Look at the achievements look at the domination, look at the ability, look at the world records, the championship doubles, the wins.

Michael Johnson is the greatest overall sprinter of all-time.

“I never made it biased. Mo is #1 all-time for 60m and unofficially 50m, I didn’t include that. MJ didn’t run those. MJ is #1 all-time for 300m and 400m, I didn’t include those, Mo didn’t run those.”

You made it totally biased. MJ didnt run the 100m and if he did it was a training run or well, well before he hit his prime.

if you were fair you would have compared the 2 sprinters like this.

100m
Mo = # 5
Mj (not an event he trained for or ever ran seriously)= #1000 and whatever

200m
Mo= #38
mj = #1

400m
Mo (not an event he trained for or ever ran seriously) = #156,789 or so
mj = #1

Mj = way better - i HIGHLY doubt maurice could have come to the 400m and run the equivilant of a 10.09 100m. No one has touched Mj’s world records and Mo’s has been beat by 3 different people. No argument

Is Michael Johnson the greatest 200m runner of all-time…

Yes.

Is Michael Johnson the greatest 400m runner of all time…

As of now… yes. But, give Wariner 2 years and then ask that question again.

As for him being the greatest sprinter of all-time… I’d say that being lit up on a 150m strip by Donovan Bailey doesn’t help him in that category.

Even if Wariner gets the world record, he’ll have a lot of work left to get greatest of all-time status. 2 olympic golds in the 400m, 4 world championship golds in the 400m, 5 relay golds (and WR) and the competition, 7 of the top 10 400m runs ever, etc. This is while also running the 200m at the highest level…

Baha, how is that unbiased, now you didn’t include Mos 60m dominance. And apparently Mo is #156,789 in the 400m? ok buddy. Let’s be serious for a second. MJ would get lit up in the premier sprinting event, the 100m dash, how can he be the best ever. Many sprinters can take the claim of greatest ever, for different reasons, Carl Lewis, Ben Johson, Mo, MJ… etc.

The discussion will be endless, because “The Greatest of all Time” means exactly - NOTHING?

It’s just a way kids compare their feelings for their heroes.
And some athletes shout out they are the greatest to overcome their self-doubt.

What can be said is:

60m: Mo dominated the event at his time and still holds WR

100m: Mo dominated the event at his time and is #5 now

200m: MJ dominated the event at his time and still holds WR

400m: MJ dominated the event at his time and still holds WR

Now one can start to count titles, to be fair divide them by the length of their career &c.

Define sprinting. There has to be atleast 2 sub catagories that are necessary for such debates.
