I made a bad deadlift last week and got some discs out of place. It was bad. Had trouble walking once my muscles cooled down.I guess you could diagnose it as lumbago. Got to the chiro the morning after and he got a real big crack from my back. Still troubled but the back felt better. After second visit I had just a little pain left wich was gone a day or two later. Today I have no pain left in the back and have made one session of sprints.
My trouble now is that I got a pain in the butt. It is located where the gluteus meets the hamstring. And it feels like it is deep in there. If you press a finger on it you can find a point near the bone where it hurts like h-ll. It is on the same side that the back pain was worst. And it feels like it keeps getting worser. At least its not dropping of.
Got a massage on gluteus but that didn’t help.
Any ideas wat’s going on? Is it just a tension from when I couldn’t walk right that will dissapear in a couple of days? (Been free from the pain in back for about 3-4days now)
Any suggestions how to recover from it?
Sounds like you are experiencing a ruptured/herniated disc and have irritated the sciatic nerve. Get it checked out. Best bet would be x-ray or MRI just to be sure though.
Also, just because your back is now in alignment, does not mean that the muscles etc surrounding the affected area is not inflamed or effected. They might feel fine walking, but start to do dead-lifts, squats or sprints with intensity, and you will feel it again for sure.
treatments that could be of use;
anti-inflammatory gels
sports massage
light exercise
Tens / EMS
acupuncture
agree with wrcortese probably an issue with the sciatic nerve, perhaps a few days of rest first, then if the condition doesnt better then try to find a solution. If it was that bad shouldnt have gone back to training that fast anyhow.
Thanks for the replies.
Don’t think it’s caused by the sciatic nerv. Had some serious problem with that a couple of years ago and the feeling is as I can recall not the same this time. Also it is located a bit different I believe.
I’m leaning towards the inflamed muscle theory. I started to take anti-inflamatory pills (Voltaren) they day before I posted here and it feels like it is going in the right direction.
I forgot to mention that the frst couple of days after the back pain went I had aches in gluteus on both side but worst on the same side that the back was worst. That heavy tension in the buttocks might have pressed against the sit-bone (correct english?) and created an inflammation.
I wasn’t back in full training just needed to check out how it felt. Just did a long warm up with some “slow” sprints. Been injured so many times that I’ve learned the lesson to not just go at it after an incident. But you shouldn’t sit around and wait either. Had and injury late in the summer season once. Ended the season and had a (too) long break. Messed up the hole indoor season that way…
