Leg Strength and Plyos

I’ve heard that you shouldn’t do plyos until you can squat 2x your body weight. Do any of you follow that protocol? I haven’t lifted since last July (2002) and I know that I can’t squat 2x my body weight, so should I use my GPP to work on getting strength up and during my pre-comp phase start using plyos 2x a week? Thanks.

There is probably some logic to it for things like depth jumps but obviously not for all plyometric activities.

It isn’t necessary to squat 2x BW. Some athletes use plyos and have never even weightrained. I think there has been some discussion on this somewhere…anyone?

that’s nonsense. According to that logic, those who can’t squat 2xbw shouldn’t sprint either since sprinting is plyometric…
