Krasnayafleur's training

Excellent, so what kind of a discount do you get? I have a friend who does high jump who used to work at nike, and now gets a 40% discount. A mate of mine got 200.000 pesos and with the discount he ended up spending an equivalent of 360.000, he bought so much stuff it wasn’t funny!!!.

I get 30% discount, and I will get 40% off my first pair of shoes (I usually buy them elsewhere since we haven’t had the ones I like until recently.) If I actually sold shoes I would get free shoes now and then by commission, but they are sexist and have mostly guys there.

I was running around doing errands all day, including joining the gym by my house, and buying an appropriate swimsuit for water running and doing laps. (I was informed that it would be rude not to wear a one-piece…)

Soreness has pretty much gone from last week, and I have a few days off work this week so my ankle should hold steady. Today will be the last day that I do nothing more than walking/biking and core- tommorow I can start in at the gym for real. Pilates is tommorow as well, better luck!

You mean to tell me these bozos don’t have a pretty woman selling shoes??? THat’s stupid, all you’d have to do is sell a guy on the shoes by saying something like: “you look reeeally good with those shoes” and just make sure they’re all the expensive ones.

I’ve never done pilates, but tell us what it’s like. so we can have an objective opinion.

What’s this story with the one-piece?? you’re only allowed to wear a one piece?? that’s stupid. If you’re like my female sprinter mates, thay wear a bikini bottom and a sports bra (don’t know the proper names though). Wear what makes you comfortable. And if you get the guys staring… enjoy. ha

hahaha well I’m allowed to wear a two-piece I suppose, but my mother thinks it would be somewhat of a social blunder… I will look more serious in all black anyway.

Pilates today was pretty good- it wasn’t easy, but at the same time it was not hard enough. I did a pilates class when I was visiting a different gym last week, and that was more geared towards athletes- much quicker pace, more exercises at a more difficult level, and it was more of doing things until failure. That having been said, the pilates I did today had its benefits- it was a slower pace so I just focused on making each one as difficult as I could and going as slow as possible because the slower you go, the harder it is. I could also focus more on proper alignment and breathing so that I got the most out of each one, so definitely not a waste of my time.

I did that for an hour then moved into weights:
-cleans: warmup set of 3 @ 95, 5x2 @105 (max), 1x1 @105, 1x1 @100
I had to adjust the weight near the end because after 6 sets I was starting to fail…
-pullups 3x6 w/25% assist
-dips 3x12 full w/25% assist
-box jumps… I had to improvise because my gym doesn’t have plyo boxes “yet” so I jumped onto a bench instead- 2x10, and 2x5 going for height and more depth on the landing (the 2x5 ideally would have been weighted, but I had to adapt for the moment)
-bench: 3x8 @70, 3 down, 2 hold, 1 up… I am capable of benching 75 which is still pretty sad, but I would not have been able to do full sets so I figured it was better to do it properly with lower weight.

The goal right now is to get the upper body stronger because the lower body DOMINATES and my upper strength could be a LOT better. So no squats for a couple weeks :frowning:

The gym was hysterical today, I was the ONLY girl lifting amongst a bunch of guys who could have won Oscars with all the grunting and faces meant to impress me- highly, highly amusing.

Yay everyone look at my favorite graduation picture :stuck_out_tongue:

Which one is you?

Which one indeed…
I am on the left- the other is my best friend.

Finally we see who Kra really is!!! Guys… comments. I’m gonna stay quiet for now.

now ahgchile be nice  I have had a LOT of requests for pictures, so this one is nice and tame and normal and non-hot weather training related just to test the waters here…

Anyway, my workouts today:
-went SWIMMING this morning, god… I did 10 lengths and was like, holy shit this is hard, so I did some water running and then 6 more lengths- this all took only about half an hour
-contrast shower- something I have never done and thought I would hate, but it felt really good
-In the PM: did an hour of yoga- my gym offers 3 or 4 different yoga classes so I went to try one out. It was not at all strenuous, it was the more spiritual kind which I am really skeptical of, but it loosened me up and stretched me out and all the relaxation almost put me to sleep, it was great
-then lifts: DB bench w/25’s, dips 3x12 full (assist), shoulder press 3x8 w/20’s, the ones for your lower back- I am totally blanking on the name- 3x12 w/25, then 4x4 pushups 4-count down, 4 hold, 4-count up with core exercises in between them
-then of course stretching and 1/2 PB&J and tea when I got home

Having these few days off work has been really nice, it is almost enough to make me want to quit my job… but I need the $$. My ankle is a little achy on and off way deep down, I can’t exactly say that it’s hurting, but it doesn’t quite feel normal yet.

My issue now is trying to figure out when to take advantage of the sauna/steam room at my gym, and more importantly when and what to get massaged. I can get massage therapy 50% off my first session and then $5 off every time I go, and the rate is already pretty reasonable. I am tempted to use my 50% on a 90 minute session, but since I don’t have any pressing injuries I’m not sure what I would ask for. There is a long list of trouble areas- I guess my hamstrings, piriformis, and back have given me the most trouble.

Actually I was being nice. If I started talking I’d probably blubber from the drool

Are you on the left or the right?

congrats on graduation!!

cheers,
Chris

Are you on the left or the right?

She said the left.

went for my lift this morning, felt really good-
-shrugs w/25’s 3x12
-pull ups 3x max: 8,10,7
-bench strip set x2
-tri’s w/25 3x12
-cable row 3x6 @55… this one varies machine to machine, on a different machine last week I was doing at least 75…?
-DB bench 1x8 w/25’s, 2x8 w/30’s

Went and did water running for 5 minutes and swam easy for 10 to loosen up.
Came home and focused on food… now work for 6 hours.

WHY DOES MY ANKLE HURT I have not been running for a week and a half!

Going to new york for the weekend, I might be able to swim and I will be walking around a lot, but thats probably about it for 3 days. perhaps not a bad idea, except my ankle… arghhhhhhhh

out of nowhere, my ankle suddenly has flared up and it hurts as badly as it ever did- walking sucks, and just sitting here right now hurts. :frowning:

what did I do??? I have no idea. It is the same ligament that i posted a link of earlier, but mostly on the topm directly in the middle, and extending up my shin but in a very different way than a shin splint. No swelling, and no pain anywhere else on the right that could have modified my gait.

ahgchile… ahwahah :o thanks

Back from NY a little earlier than expected, but this doesn’t make much difference to me since everything will be closed tommorow (the 4th) anyway.

I was going to swim yesterday or at least do something besides all the walking around, but then I had some kind of attack… I don’t know if it was a panic attack or food poisoning or just a 24-hour bug, but whatever it was it SUCKED. The only precursor or anything that I noticed all day was that my eye was twitching in the morning (CNS fatigue…?) then in the evening I kept having waves of intense nausea (which medicine did NOTHING to help  ) I finally decided that I felt like I could eat, but that didn’t really work- it was so bad I started to hyperventilate, I even wondered if it was my appendix! And then I started to cry and then I felt better, and I felt a little off today but at least I could eat normally. So who knows what THAT was about.

The waiter at dinner asked me if I was a swimmer because my arms looked so strong!!! hahaha This is a major accomplishment for me  since the immediate goal right now is upper body strength.

I’ll write tomorrow because I’m in no condition to make sense now, PM me and look me up on MSN messenger

ok, now i’m fine… damn those sleep inducers hit you hard, anyway I wouldn’t be surprised if the waiter said something like that, from you’re training you’ve been working really, really well, you’re becoming a mean multi event machine, but the only thing I have to stress is to take care of your ankle. Have you gone to have it checked out?? do you know for sure if its soft tissue or hard tissue injury?? I think having it checked out would be well worth it. Oh and at work… kick some ass, and show everyone how awesome you are at selling so those bastids’ll give you free shoes!!! ha.

I haven’t gotten it checked… I may have had the trainer look at it early on, but since it felt crunchy and inflamed I wrote it off as tendinitis and resigned myself to icing it and being in pretty much constant pain for the past couple months. It is on and off now, sometimes aching after a lot of walking or standing and sometimes not- I don’t really know what else to do about it, but I’ll want to have it looked at before I go to school if it is still not healed by then.

I am feeling pretty much better from whatever attack I had, I have been drinking even more water and I had a pretty good night’s sleep. I almost forgot, the only other warning I had was bloodshot eyes- I thought I was getting a migraine or something.

Lots of walking around today, the gym was closed anyway so I couldn’t have done much by way of a workout. I think tommorow I will do double pilates (morning and evening) and get a lift in.

I was wrong, I thought there were two pilates classes today but there is only one, so I went to that this morning. It was a good class but not nearly as challenging as the first one I took a couple weeks ago… that was really high-intensity, this stuff is a little more relaxed. But I get bored with the same core stuff all the time and this is a pretty good way to change it up.

After an hour of that I did my lift:
-DB bench w/30’s 4x8

  • 1/2 dips 4x10, 8% assisted (down from 20% )
    -tri’s w/25 4x10
    -back raises w/25 plate 3x12
-bench 4x6 @ 75- this is up 5 lbs and was the last thing I did and it wasn’t that bad… I might have to move up some more.

Did some quick stretching then came home to eat because I didn’t have a great breakfast and I was pretty hungry. I usually prefer to work out later in the day, but I wanted to drag myself out of bed for this class. The lift felt great though, that waiter’s compliment may have given me some extra confidence.

Another pretty good day, I feel stronger already

first lifting:
-cable rows 4x10 @55 (I still don’t understand why it varies so much)
-shrugs 4x12 w/25’s
-pullups 3x6 (assist)
-bi’s 2x strip set

I had to do this pretty quickly, so especially for the pullups I didn’t take quite as much rest as I might have normally.

Then I did 75 minutes of yoga which was pretty low-key, then an hour of pilates. The instructor realized pretty quickly that I’m a lot stronger than most of the class, so she shows me all the harder variations. The intensity was upped a notch this time which felt great.

Now to look for food, I might have to go buy myself crepes for dinner because I don’t want to eat white pasta at night for two days in a row.

R.I.P. ANKLE

Lifts first- max clean day always makes me a little nervous.
-2x10 bench jumps

  • cleans 1x3 @95, 7x2 @105- I still have trouble getting under these near the end, but it is getting a little easier
-3x5 bench jumps w/emphasis on height and deeper landing since I can’t do them weighted at the moment and I don’t know if jump squats would be a comparable thing to do

Then swimming:
-4 lengths swimming, 4 lengths running/sprint drills for 4 sets- this took me half an hour. My hamstrings are sore, I don’t know if its from yesterday or today, but doing B skips underwater helped.

Then contrast shower and awesome food since I luckily had the time to plan my meal out and prepare it, and there was actually good food in the house.

Since my current lifting plan is only 4 days, the weekend is reserved for recovery activities  Hopefully I am seeing a sports doctor friday about my ankle, yoga and sauna on saturday, and massage on sunday… ahhhh what a pampered life  hahaha

RIP ankle
