made it to the gym last night, a little on the late side. Went with the same tempo-type run I did last week, pretty compact:
-5 min quick core
-5 min jog up easy incline; 8x1 min. on, 1 min, off, increasing speed by .2 mph each time and jogging @6mph between. This would be approx. 8x300 @ 60-70%. By the fast ones at the end I was picking up the knees and getting into sprinting form as best I could on the treadmill (way too hot to run outside) it was quite fun.
-5 min. CD jog
I was really pressed for time, so I only did a couple of lifts- better than nothing I suppose.
-3x6 cleans, started conservatively low since the deadlifts gave me such a problem, then increased weight each time, 1-2 min. btw. Not sore today.
-3x5 incline press @ static weight, 1-2 min. btw. A tiny bit of shoulder tightness but not much.
Perhaps now that I’ve eased back into things I can lift a bit more aggressively now. It is my last day at the congressman’s office, so now I will have a couple weeks to just relax and enjoy the city, make some money at my retail job, and hopefully get some good lifting in before the craziness of moving back to school and seeing my parents off to colorado.
I have been putting in some serious hours at my retail job the past couple days… my ankle is a little achy and my left shin is sore. Otherwise just tired, I suppose the paycheck will be worth it.
Starting tommorow I have shorter shifts all week so I will be able to make it to the gym without being totally fried first, I hope. I will be Very Happy to be done with this job, convenient as it has been.
Unbelievably, I need to start thinking about going back to school. It will be an interesting test to see if letting loose all summer will let me focus better this semester, or if it just messed me up more.
going nuts with work hours, my ankle is starting to ache.
pushups is a good idea, especially in the next couple weeks when things get crazy with me running all over the country and moving back and forth to god knows where. i can’t wait to be settled at school just to be settled somewhere.
had to do inventory at the store last night until 3am! slept in, cleaned my room, read a book …
after eating a lot of chocolate and cheese i decided late that i needed to do something or else the “fat fear” would keep me up all night, so i went out for a quick paced run around the neighborhood, ending with a long all-out sprint up capital hill.
i am going to miss it here so much, I am already looking at internships for next year to come back.
i have no idea what is going on really, my parents are moving and it is sort of up to me to figure out where i will go in between being here and going back to school. i do know i have to be out of here by the 25th.
my old ankle injury has been aching a lot, probably from wearing flip flops while putting in 8 to 12 hour days on my feet at work. silly i know, but it is so unbearably hot lately… !
my membership at the gym has run out, but i have a bunch of free passes so i can probably still make it in there until i have to clear out. i am actually looking forward to occupying my time with books and papers and work… a nerd at heart and also being left at loose ends is baddd news.
got wasted last night for the first time in a while but stayed in the house and out of trouble, tonight i am sitting in and reading.
because of all the standing at work, my ankle has been aching and bugging me a lot, but yesterday was my last day there so I am not too worried. I did a self-massage yesterday, and if it continues I can start some anti-inflamms.
filming this afternoon, then a run if it doesn’t start storming.
went for a run today, with a long uphill all-out sprint at the end. my ankle clenched high up in the beginning of it which dind’t feel great, but now that i am done with my retail job the aching has been feeling better.
filming again tommorow, then leaving DC on friday to head out to colorado with my parents… where i will turn right around and come back to mass for school.
i am currently in the midst of helping my parents move to colorado, which involves entertaining the cat and dog in the backseat for hours on end. SWEET
We are staying at a hotel where I can finally get on a treadmill either this evening or tommorow morning. I have left DC behind, sadly However, all the free time has given me opportunity to evaluate my current state of affairs- I have been trying not to think too much about this past year in track because it is still kind of heartbreaking to think back to all the bewilderment and frustration at trying so hard yet having my performances sink so much. But I was thinking about it today, and then thinking about my over-the-summer shift in identity from track athlete —> K.P. the “a**l princess”, and realized that in the end track is what I really really love and miss, and I am aching for the next season to start.
once I get to boulder i will be there for a week, then it’s back to school which equals BACK TO TRAINING
boulder is absolutely flippin beautiful, I don’t even want to go back to school now! It is dry and sunny and not too hot, mountains in view out my window, and also has the advanatge of being a BIG running town and very health-conscious. I went into whole foods this morning and was totally blown away… then stuffed my face with fruit and restocked on supps.
Once the sun goes down a bit I am planning on a run and some core, we will see how much difference the elevation actually makes.
somehow just being in a place like this makes me so motivated to get healthy again… in evey respect, i.e. in my head.
