"Jumper's Knee"

I believe I recall there being a thread in the old forum concerning this issue. Does anyone have any links handy?

1.)Has anyone dealt with this personally?

2.)ANy experience on protocols for rehab?

3.) Would the use of Ultrasound and/or stem treatment be beneficial?

Thanks for any help

Anyone out there with any experience with this???:o

i’d like to see some info too… pretty sure what is called jumper’s knee, is the same as tendonitis, but it sure sucks. Most of what I have read has said 4 weeks off with ice after any activity. I can’t exactly follow that plan when I have a decathlon in 2 weeks.

I have bursitis in my knee, almost the same thing. I was told to take some bromelien for inflammation and vitamin C for tissue repair. Ice a lot of course and rest it if possible. It only hurt if I jumped or did squats, but it didn’t hurt for running.

What bromalein product have you been using y400?

I did a search on the old forum TV1285 and found very little…there is a nice article somewhere…I will post a link later.

I use Quercetin with Bromelain by NOW. It contains 800mg Quercetin and 200 mg of Bromelain. I take two pills two times a day.

I hope this link is ok, It is the start of a thread by Dr. Mel Siff, with links to relevant articles.

Last paragraph of that last link:
“Tendinopathies have provided long-lasting frustration for both patients and physicians, and attributing the pathology to tendinitis rather than tendinosis may have contributed to this problem. Physicians must acknowledge that the cause is most often due to tendinosis, rather than tendinitis, and treat the problem using a fundamentally different paradigm. Advice and suggestions for patients along these lines of clinical thought can help them recover more quickly and avoid surgery.”

I would recommend every serious athlete and coach read this article, because in my experience, tendinosis is the easiest and first injury to pick up when overtraining.

What would symptoms of overtraining be even prior to tendonitis?

I know there are other symptoms that come with overtraining, but I am probably not experienced enough to notice them. I should have said explicitly that was my experience with my own injuries, not others.

I’ll have a stab at the first symptoms.

higher waking heart rate?
muscle twitches & eye flickering?
muscle knots?
insomnia?

Do tendon injuries occur without nervous system overtraining symptoms?
