Indoor meet during S-L question

One of my guys has been doing well with training and been following S-L. We have a chance to run this weekend at an indoor meet to run a 200.

We have been doing SE1 60’s (3x(3-4x60) just finished 40+m.

Was thinking of having him do his regular accel and lbock work, and then for the meet going hard for 50m and then maintaining the rest. Any thoughts on this idea? I don’t want him going 100% for 200 yet, and the 60m isn’t offered for a month.

You answered your own question, you dont want him running 200 at 100% so stick to your 50m intensity limit.

Just need to run in a relaxed fashion and it will sort itself out. Make the pure focus of the race on executing the first 40-50m and then relaxed running to bring it home if you choose to compete.

Thanks guys! I wanted to get feedback to make sure my thinking seemed right.

I am curious what does your warmup look like for your hs sprinters?

Is he actually mentally capable of only going hard for 50m?

Once you’re in a race, it can be tough to follow that sort of thing.

Foam roll
Static stretch
Hurdle mobility
Jump Rope
Power Speed (with or without weight)
30’s high
30’s blocks
speed or SE work

We had a talk about this. I feel he can handle it. This meet only serves as a SE workout, since we have a hard time doing anything longer than 60m currently.

How did the 200m race go? Are you using the 200m race as SE work for the 60m?
