I am currently looking for a job, but am having trouble finding a job. I had jobs over the summer, but now that school started up, I need a job for Sat. and Sun… This is because of school and training.
How are you all able to make money, and still able to go to school, train, etc.? I am 17 years old, and have worked as a car hop at a fast food restaurant during June, and worked as a janitor from June-Aug. I left the fast food restaurant, because I didn’t want to work two jobs.
Now, though, I can’t work during the week (Mon.-Fri). This is because of training and school. The only chance I would have to work is Sat. and Sun… The problem is, most places wont do that. I wen’t into one job interview today, and was told I could only get Sundays, one shift. He thought it was strange or stupid to only try to work Sat and Sun. Anyways, I turned it down, at the time, I feel that was the right decision. He said he wanted a commitment, and knew I would probably leave the job when I found a better one. He was “hardcore” about it, which is different from my other job interviews. Sure it was a job, but I think I can find one out there. I’m looking at some other places soon though.
Anyways, how do you all make money, and balance training and school? Do you have a job? Do you do something on the internet? Do you know an easy way to make easy money? Thanks for any help.
Find a job that hires alot of younger kids, like resturaunts or somthing. I work at a place in the summer that just happens to be open fri sat and sun so it works out well for me. There are jobs out there that will give you the hours you need. Try getting a job at the mall or something, retail is easy (can be fun sometimes) and they usually need a shitload of help on the weekends…
Find a weekend job at the mall or school. Often times places that depend on college students for the summer, end up having alot of openings because many of the students go to school out of state. Often they are desperate.

Well, I did apply to two places recently. One was at a grocery store. He stated, though, that he could only get me a Sat. job. I turned it down, because I need Sat. and Sun… Also, he wanted a commitment, unusually hardcore about it, and I figured I would look somewhere else.
Then I found a perfect job for me. A Weekend job, specifically that, and applied there. The guy gave me the attitude that I got the job, but didn’t call me back. Probably should have called him back to ask about the job, but I was so tired, I just assumed he found someone else, and said screw it.
I will ask a person I know who has a Sat. Sun. job at a carwash place to see if they have jobs opened there. If not, I will check out the commisary or the mall.
Its just hard to find a job that will strictly hire for Sat. and Sun… I’m sure one is out there. Then, when you find one, someone else gets the job. Probably a college kid over me. I have enough money to last me some more from summer work, but will need a job eventually. I’m sure I will find one, though.

What jobs would they have at school? I’m in high school still, but will be going to college after this year, my senior year.
Anything you want to do really. My friend is a tutor for some hott girl and gets paid 200 a week to hang out with her pretty much and teach her middle school math… I worked in the gym checking school ID’s and stuff. Just make sure you send emails before school starts to the people that are holding the positions open

Our school doesn’t pay students to do anything like that. Anyways, I asked a person I know that works at a car wash, and he said there are openings Sat. and Sun. there, he is going to ask the owner today. He said its a pretty slack job, and easy, so I’m going to check it out soon.

Hang out with a “hot middle schooler”? How old is he? You are joking, right…?
I was lucky enough that my first job when I was 16 years old working as a courtesy clerk (bagger) at a grocery store… It was fairly flexible suprisingly, and I got all the time off I needed for sports, games, etc… Great job/pay for a high school kid, I worked there for almost 2 years…
Well, here is my question. How is everyone getting money on this forum? Do all of you work? This is of course towards those in High School and College. I could easily balance work and training without school, but its challenging getting training, school, and a job in at the same time.
How do you all do it?
I am actually leaving a job, they expect me to work 12 hours on Saturday, with one break; that isn’t happening. But I did apply to a movie theatre today, that said it was hiring. I said I could work Fri afternoons, and all day Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully they will call back, and I’m sure they will, seeing they are hiring.
But, anyways, again, how do you all do it? Balance work, school, and training? Do some of you not have to work? How do you balance an 6-8 hour job, with school and training?
One thing that is nice about being a grad student, i get paid to go to school (well, actually to do research). Really, in the end, it all comes down to working hard and knowing one’s priorities. I knew someone as an undergraduate who worked his ass off in the summer, so he wouldn’t have to work during the school year. In order to do this, he was very frugal, no parties or eating out etc., but he graduated while supporting himself and with saved money in the bank. Personally, I was lucky to have my parents support me as an undergraduate, but i tried to as frugal as that guy, figuring that it was the least i could do for my parents.
Really when it comes down to working/jobs/school and balancing them it is all about working hard and being willing to work. There is no secret to it.

Thanks for the reponse. I know others have something to say on this subject. Anyone, please give me some examples from your personal life, or someone you have heard of, on how you, or that person, balanced training, school, and a job at the same time, and succeeded in doing it.
